Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has confirmed that the Hoops have made Kelechi Iheanacho an offer as talks continue over the striker’s return to the club, Completesports.com reports.
Iheanacho’s previous contract with Celtic expired at the end of last month.
Iheanacho linked up with the Hoops last September on a one-year deal, with the Scottish Premiership champions holding an option to keep him for a further season.
Although injuries disrupted his season and restricted his minutes, the former Manchester City striker made a significant impact by scoring decisive goals against Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibernian and Motherwell.

Celtic failed to activate the extension option before it expired, meaning a completely new contract must now be agreed between the club and Iheanacho.
Despite attracting interest from clubs in Qatar and Turkey, the striker is now set to continue his career in Scotland.
Speaking to the Daily Record, O’Neill said: “There’s an offer there to him (Iheanacho) at this minute. So we’ll see how that develops.”
The Nigeria international scored nine goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for Celtic last season.
