Onuachu’s Goal Drought Continues As Bottom Club Southampton Suffer Home Defeat

Super Eagles of Nigeria stars Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo were in action for struggling Southampton who lost 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace.

The defeat leaves Southampton bottom in the league table on 23 points and four points from safety with seven games left to play.

In the 62nd minute Aribo was taken off for Onuachu, who has now failed to score in seven Premier League games for Southampton since joining in January.

A brace from Eberechi Eze in the 54th and 68th minutes subjected Southampton to a third straight loss.

At Goodison Park Everton, with Alex Iwobi playing for 90 minutes, lost 3-1 to Fulham.

The Toffees, with back-to-back losses, occupy 17th on the log and are outside the relegation zone on goals difference.

And at the Molineaux, Frank Onyeka was an unused substitute as Brentford lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Other results saw Chelsea lose 2-1 to Brighton at Stamford Bridge and Bournemouth beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 away.

I knew Onuachu would struggle in the EPL, he does not have the required tools to succeed as a striker in that league. When some of us pointed it out then , we looked insane because he was scoring for fun in Belgium but Belgium is a farmer’s league. He is not at any level close to playing in that league. He has no speed and his movement is appalling but it is all coming to fore now.

This are worrying times for Nigerian football, our midfield is a mess, Ndidi is clearly out of form, Onyeka can not get game time, Everton, Southampton & Leicester are all fighting relegation. Don’t get me started on the goal keeping situation! Nigerians should be warned not to expect anything from this team. The only guys flying now are gift orban, Osimhen (before the injury) and chukwueze. What really troubles me and should trouble any fan is that recent pictures of Peseiro shows him smiling like he is oblivious of the team’s decline and its inevitable capitulation. I personally do not think this coach is intelligent, Rohr was way more cerebral than him, he can not see the ominous signs ahead. At this juncture, I have to admit that since the NFF decided to sack Rohr, the team is on a speedy decline. Like him or hate him, Rohr was able to get the best out of this players and when there was gap in the team due to injuries or lack of playing time, he was proactive in searching out players who could fill in. This coach will continue with Aribo who has not played in a long time, continue with Ndidi who is clearly not fit and not at his best,Onyeka who is also not playing. The team is in a mess.

THIS IS NOT A SURPRISE TO ME.
THERE ARE SO MANY PLAYERS THAT APART FROM SCORING GOALS as a striker, THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS ON THE FIELD OF PLAY IS NOTHING TO FORGET ABOUT.(you remember AMOKACHI, MARTINS)
