Osimhen Almost Back To His Best — Napoli Coach Calzona

Napoli caretaker coach, Francesco Calzona says Victor Osimhen is almost back to his levels.

Osimhen was in action in Napoli’s 2-1 victory against Juventus at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Sunday night.

The Nigeria international’s scoring run was halted when Wojciech Szczesny saved his penalty late on but Giancomo Raspadori slotted home the rebound.

The 25-year-old scored five goals in three games before the encounter with Juventus.

Calzona posited that Osimhen is gradually getting back to this best.

“Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen are two fundamental players for this team. They both had difficult moments this season, but are now almost back to their usual levels.”

Osimhen has scored 11 goals in 16 league appearances for Napoli this season.

Osimehn should have known by now that he is not a good penalty taker. He should save Nigeria, Nigerians and himself the embarrassment of taking penalty. He should have ask ekong to teach him how to take penalty..I mean he has failed to score most of his penalties…

Osimhen should understand that a good penalty kick is not just about sending the goalkeeper the wrong direction but he has to bring in accuracy and velocity (speed) in his penalty kicks.

I mean, choose the angle of weakness of the goalkeeper and shoot the ball with high velocity (shot) such that before the goalkeeper gets there, the ball has entered.

Osimhen should watch how CR7 takes his penalties. Bring out extra hours to train on his areas of dip.

    Welldone great striker, VO9.

  • My problem with Osimhen is he seems to be missing opportunities to take him into folk law yes he carried Napoli to Title in 33 years. But these little intricate chances that if he capitalizes will take him straight to the top in the Minds of Napoli Old Guards and die hard fans.

Can someone please tell me why Osimhen is so frightened of Penalties because had he been insisting on taking them no matter what he would have perfected the art by now. I am 100 percent sure it is a mind thing with Osimhen and Penalties because if he mastered it and overcomes the fear of them it will assist he’s career and confidence a whole lot.
