Osimhen Back In Action Against AC Milan Next Week

Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen could return to action against AC Milan next week, but it depends on how he adapt to a protective mask.

Osimhen suffered multiple fractures in his face after colliding with Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in a Serie A clash on November 21.

The Nigeria international underwent surgery two days later, after which Napoli revealed that the 22-year-old would be sidelined for three months.

The striker however returned to training this week and could make a quick recovery being available against Milan on December 19.

Calciomercato.com reports that a kevlar protective mask designed for the striker could be ready in 48 hours, although Osimhen is still not prepared to wear it.

“Two days are enough to make it,” said doctor Roberto Ruggiero who will be in charge of the realization of the mask with his staff.

“We can also change it if the athlete has problems. It’s a mask that Osimhen can wear during training sessions to avoid accidental collisions with his teammates.”

However, Osimhen will only wear the mask once the traumatized part of his face has completely deflated.

The player will undergo further medical examinations in the coming days and if the recovery is going the right way, Napoli doctor Raffaele Canonico will pass all the information to Ruggiero to begin the realization of the mask.

It is obvious that he can be back earlier than they stated but they don’t want to throw him into the fold too soon even tho they need him back asap but they want him to miss afcon and then he can start playing for them. If they field him against AC Milan they know he will have to go for Afcon.

Exactly!..90 days recovery date was too suspicious. That’s why our medical team is going to conduct their own tests

Osimhen will go to AFCON if all tests are conducted properly without Ojoro. A fractured bone is different from a broken bone that will require more time to heal. Besides he’s a 22 year old guy who can heal quicker than the expected time. When they placed him on 3 months recovery time I knew he should be fine in a month or two. If he plays before the AFCON Nigeria will take Napoli to FIFA if they refuse to release him for the AFCON. This is a wonderful news!!!

Brothers, just imagine Osimene and Denise in the attack, two players with very good leap. These two players have one thing in common; anger, which gives a sense of overflowing talent. This why I honestly dont like it when such players get overly condemned for that. We should rather try encourage them to use it rightly to punish opponents goal instead of doing away with it. Almost all great players have this overflow of energy that sometimes makes them over react in form of anger. Once they lose it, they become like over ripe fried dodo.

Facial features take six weeks to heal, it’s not a good thing to rush him back to play football.
They should have waited till at least the first week of January when the callous would have been properly solidified.

  • They shouldn’t rush the young man back to action so soon. They should let him heal properly and get comfortable again. I know they need him but they shouldn’t risk getting him injured again and for a longer period this time.

I believe Napoli doesn’t need ro rush Osimhen back too quickly. Facial fractures generally take 4 to 6 weeks to heal. Especially with a successful surgery 4 weeks is okay. However considering extreme physical contacts involved in soccer, I will advice that Napoli should give him a full 6 weeks of recovery before getting back into competitive soccer even with the protective face mask
