Osimhen Injured, Doubtful For Super Eagles Vs Benin, Lesotho

Victor Osimhen could miss Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Benin and Lesotho after picking an injury in Lille’s 3-0 home win against Girondins Bordeaux on Saturday, reports Completesports.com.

Osimhen was replaced a minute before the hour mark by Loic Remy following the setback.

“Victor Osimhen has a pain in the adductor, it can be a big problem,” Lille manager Christophe Gatlier provided update on the forward’s injury during his interaction with the media after the game.

It remains to be seen if he will be fit enough for Nigeria’s fixtures against Benin and Lesotho billed for November 14 and 19th respectively.

Osimhen has enjoyed a remarkable time to his career with Lille, netting seven times and recording two assists in 11 league outings for Les Dogues.

The 20-year-old was last week voted Ligue 1 player of the month for September. And he later received the trophy just before the kick off of Lille versus Bordeaux on Saturday.

You know nothing about Eberechi eze…. even the last match you just mentioned he had an assist….it is only normal that we crave for the best…And yes he is the best attacking midfielder of Nigerian decent currently. Pls go and do your research and stop asking what is wrong with people….

    • @Ubah, he not only scored two penalties, but he won the penalties in the first place.

From the wings and attacking Midfield positions he has contributed to 9 goals (6 goals, 3 assists) in 13 matches so far this season.

There are not many Nigerian players who have these stats, not to talk of strikers.

The clamour is not from just one match, it’s not just from this season either.

For sure there are not many better attacking midfielders of Nigerian descent any where else in the world who are on form

  • I kept on look for him . Hoping he will score. Alas scores was 3 : 0. Still I no see osimen score. So na injury.

  • Now it’s time
    Call Dessers..
    No of Games – 11
    Goals – 5
    Assist – 4

…Peter Olayinka is a very clean and hardworking attacker… if you watch what he played against Dortmund and Barcelona you will fear his work rate! I personally have not seen any Nigerian player with the level of work-rate, astuteness and intelligence of his, I believe he can do as good a job as Osimhen, though he plays from the left wing for Slavia Prague, you could tell he is a deadly attacker… Osimhen is the rave of the moment but I think Olayinka is on equal level with Osimhen, for sure, I know he is more economical with the ball, he is easily Slavia Prague’s best player!

  • Well .. olayinka is already part of the team

…yes but Rohr should try him for no 9 and start him from beginning in the absence of Osimhen… He is sharper than Onuachu… The only ones I will still like to see are Simy Nwankwo or Junior Ajayi… Ajayi a mainstay in Al-Ahly deserve a look in once more!
