Osimhen Rushed To Hospital With Face Injury As Inter Inflict First League Defeat On Napoli

Victor Osimhen had to be rushed to the San Raffaele Hospital for tests, after he was diagnosed with head trauma as Napoli suffered a first league loss going down 3-2 at Inter Milan on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

Osimhen appeared to fracture his cheekbone during a clash of heads with Inter defender Milan Skriniar.

He was visibly dazed and his face was badly swollen as he staggered off the pitch at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

It was an accidental clash of heads as they both went for the ball, but Osimhen was caught on the cheekbone by the back of Skriniar’s head and came off much worse.

He looked visibly dazed, his eye and cheek were very swollen within minutes of the clash, all suggesting a possible fracture.

He is also not new to head injuries, as last term he was knocked unconscious when landing awkwardly, hitting the back of his head on the turf.

Because of that, and a loss of memory, Osimhen was out for several weeks due to concussion protocols.

Inter blew the title race wide open with the hard fought win against Luciano Spalletti side.

Despite the defeat Napoli stay top on 32 points ahead of AC Milan on superior goals while Inter are third on 28 points.

    AFCON miss imminent?

For crying out loud, this tournament is less than 50–60 days away, why always this asset of ours as prime target of various body injuries?

Well, let’s hope he recovers in time for the opener against Mo Salah’s Pharoahs.

Let me just keep assuming for now that it’s squarely his high passion for the sport that’s leading him into all these unnecessary health challenges.

It was just an unfortunate clash of heads. Osimhen will be fine soonest. I love the boy’s bravery though, a classic center-forward.

Osimhen is too physical, some of this duel are uncalled for IMO

Victor should pls take things easy henceforth.

The way he lunges into some duels sometimes makes one gasp for breath for a second. He cant sustain this style of play for too long before a career threatening injury sets in (God forbid). Yes he might be young and strong now, but should remember that his body also obeys basic physical laws like Hooke’s law and laws of elasticity. One stretch beyond normal, something snaps and the next thing will be 8, 9, 12 months on the sidelines. And most players never remain the same afterwards. Most.

I pray that never happens. But sofry sofry naim trailer dey take pack onions from Kano reach Lagos o. We love you and we still want to see you firing way into your 30s by the year 2030

Thank God Doctor is back. I am a bit worried about you Dr.Drey. aku isin mi eni o.

However, since you are back now and you saw what happened against CAR and Cape Verde, shall we kuku continue managing Oga Rohr like that or don’t you think Super Eagles needed a new set of coaches?

If you look deeply into the current Super Eagles squad Dr.Drey, we have players but we don’t have a team. Likewise the coaches.

Since we all agreed that we/NFF have to replace Oga Rohr, we don’t have much time left before the Afcon, Amunike, Egbo, Marnu Gerba, Peter Rufai and Enyeama are more qualified in that position than Oga Rohr and his crew. So,Amunike and co should be the next.

The reason behind this is that, they know the kind of brand football we play and they also understand what we are demanding from our darling Super Eagles.

They can work things out within the short of period and winning the tournament in Cameroon is not negotiable because we have the players to get the job done us.

We have a point to prove to Cameroonians. They came to Nigeria and defeated our team in front of Super Eagles fans in Lagos and this is a better time to repeat the same thing in Cameroon. We can not forget that painful defeat and the only way we can erase that pain is to win the tournament in Cameroon by putting our own there.

Don’t forget that having Amunike in charge of the Eagles is another opportunity and also a rare chance for Amunike to task our players to go for the Afcon trophy because Amunike and Egbo were part of the team that Cameroon defeated in Lagos in year 2000.

The next year Afcon is totally different and if we failed to win that tournament, Super Eagles have no point to represent African at the world cup.

My dear Dr.Drey, over the past five years, we enjoyed little in terms of good football under Oga Rohr and if not because of Mikel, Moses, Ighalo and Balogun, Super Eagles may not achieved those qualifications under Mr. Rohr Rohr.

Now that no Mikel Obi and Victor Moses, the Eagles is not Super any more.

However, my lovely Dr.Drey and the rest of Oga Rohr followers, if Amunike and co failed to impressed at the Afcon then, NFF should hire a foreign coach.

Am I communicating ba? We have no time to waste. Before we know, Afcon is here.

Nonetheless, I wish Osimhen a quick recovery. Ire o. God bless Nigerians and Nigeria!!!

Fallen warrior Osimhen, we wish you a speedy recovery.
We know it is in your personality to give 200% in matches.
As Dr. Drey and others have suggested, I also feel you need to chose your battles with more wisdom. It is not every ball you should go all in for.
Remember, a live dog is better than a dead lion.
    Get well soon, warrior.

@Pompei… These things happen in football. He just contested a normal ball. Clash of heads is always common like that… Awoniyi was unconscious when it happened to him some seasons back at Mainz 05. Victor will be alright… On the other hand… @Dr.Drey… You seem so worried should Victor be out for longer than period as a result… Lol, I thought your main man Odion Ighalo is back, lol, so brother why so much hysteria from you for Victor should he be out for longer than feared and not be ready for Nations Cup on time… Odion can lead our attack na… You were happy they recalled him but we have not since your analyzes on his latest outing versus Cape Verde where his header was flying to heaven and he fluffed a well laid lay off… In Odion Ighalo you trust bro… fear not for Osimhen!

  • pompei 2 years ago

Indeed Jimbo, he was unfortunate today. He went for a ball and got injured.
But in other games, especially the ones for Nigeria, I’ve seen Osimhen overstretching himself, overworking himself, trying hard to make something happen on his own.
He is to be commended for his attitude. But too much of even a good thing becomes counterproductive.
Our best striker is of no use to us in the hospital.
We need him, and can’t afford to lose him to injury and/or burnout, which is what will occur if he continues to go full blast in every moment in every game. Osimhen should wisely chose his moments. He should know when to fight, and when to relax and save his energy.
For Nigeria, his team mates need to pull their weight and help Osimhen out. Providing him with good service will help him a lot. If he feels confident that good service will arrive, he will not feel the need to take risks and try to create opportunities for himself.
Osimhen can’t do it all alone. He needs help. His Nigeria team mates need to step up.

  • If Osimhen can’t make it to the afcon I wonder if coach rohr will start musa, ighalo, onuachu in his absence. Lets see how that will work out for the Super Eagles.

I rather choose Awoniyi. He has the same pattern with osimhen
