Nigeria’s Folashade Rafiatu Lawal missed out on a place on the podium in the women’s 59kg weightlifting event at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games on Thursday.
Lawal finished in fifth position with a total lift of 230kg in the Snatch, Clean and Jerk.
The 27-year-old’s tally was 5kg short of bronze medallist Kuo Hsing-chun of Chinese Taipei.

Team Nigeria is yet to win a medal in Paris 2024.
The West Africans will hope for better luck later in the day with the trio of Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro and Prestina Ochonogor to compete in the women’s long jump final.
Brume won bronze medal in the event three years ago in Tokyo.
