Odunayo Adekuroye lost her quarter-final women’s wrestling 57kg bout 10-8 to China’s Kexin Hong on Thursday.
Adekuroye led 4-0 at some point in the bout but Hong fought back to claim victory.
The 30-year-old defeated Algeria’s Fouzia Chaimaa Aouissi in the previous round.

Aouissi pulled out of the fight after sustaining an injury with Adekuroye leading 5-0.
It would be recalled that another wrestler, Blessing Oborodudu missed out on a place on the podium despite a bright start at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games.
Oborodudu failed to advance beyond the semi-finals and also lost her bronze medal match.
