Reports in Australia claim the Brumbies have called a press conference for Tuesday as Pocock prepares to announce his future plans. The 31-year-old has been playing in Japan in recent years after signing a three-year deal with the Panasonic Wild Knights.

He decided to skip the 2018-19 Japan season to return to the Brumbies but the current campaign is now set to be his last in Australian rugby. Speculation about Pocock’s future has been rife since last week, when Brumbies coach Dan McKellar confirmed talks were ongoing about his future.

He said: “It’s all the things we’ve got to look at to see whether he plays Super Rugby or whether he now puts his attention towards the World Cup. “Those are things we’ve got to discuss between the Brumbies and the Wallabies.”
