Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo got a very good rating after scoring in Southampton’s 4-2 win against Reading in their first pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The rating was compiled by Daily Echo and was for every Southampton player who featured.
Aribo was introduced in the 71st minute and scored on 76 minutes to put the Saints 4-1 ahead.

Following his impressive performance despite coming on with less than 20 minutes left, Aribo got seven out of 10 rating.
The former Rangers star was one of 11 Southampton players rated seven.
Commenting on his display, Daily Echo wrote:“Finished well with a golden chance shortly after coming on. Looked calm in possession, inviting pressure – sometimes caught.”
Aribo will hope to help Southampton return to the Premier League following their relegation to the Championship last season.

Mr Pre-Season. He’ll soon score another solo goal. I just pray you get it well this season
Aribo will return his stardom when he begin English championship;I think he will be Super Eagles joker in the next era.
His game will always be average… He does not have the extra edge. Though undeniably a good player, but his likes are too many available to Nigeria. What Super Eagles need are players who come with extras to direct the swings of games.
Most of these players don’t like to get the extra edge they need by work in the gym. I often think he isn’t gritty and combative enough to command and dictate plays in the middle such that will threaten any serious African and World Football Side…
Wishing him nonetheless… Success in the new season!
Aribo needs to add many varieties to his game. As a midfielder, he need to work on giving long passes and also work on his shutting from distance.
He is not super eagles material I wonder why they continue to invite this guy to super eagles he is not good enough.we have players that can do better in that position the likes of k nwakali.onyedika.A yusuf.s tijani. O nwobodo are better mildfielders ola Ina can do better than Aribo in that position.
Coach has been the problem of super eagles since 2015 Rohr really destroyed our se team the problem of super eagles started since the day Rohr took over as se coach.
Aribo was a good player but poor form after he moved to England robbed him of some sharpness. But with regular football in the championship,he’s expected to come back to full fitness.
Meanwhile,Rohr is a very sound coach it’s rather astonishing to read bad remarks of his time in the super eagles,I think he had an unblemished record. He was longest serving manager for a reason,if he was a bad manager I doubt the football authorities will let him stay in the helms that long.
GENERAL ROAR that QUALIFIED NIGERIA with GAMES to SPARE after BACK to BACK FAILURE DESTROYED NIGERIA FOOTBALL???
OK o!!!
LMAOO…..Reality check….you guys hadnt finished in 2nd place in ordinary AFCON qualifiers back to back and were ranked 16th in africa before he was hired.
If you know what that means you should be bowing your head in shame right now for your comment.

This was Rohr’s chief antagonist, Segun Odegbami’s article after the 2018 world cup
Qualifications draw was made.
He even stated then that it will take an “undeserving miracle”…..(please underline the word undeserving)….for Nigeria to qualify for the 2018 world cup…LMAOoo. That was the state of hopelessness we were in at that time.
Dumb people with short memories.
What an irony…!
Rohr came in and made things look easy….they started bragging that their team could even win AFCON under 2 weeks with any coach…..LMAOoo
Fast forward few months later, their assess got booted out of both afcon and the 2022 world cup by the worst teams both opponents had paraded in decades….LMAOoo

Chaii… @Dr drey, God bless you for the link you dropped here. Especially from Mr Odegbami (Mr know all) but it’s a pity that it won’t stop those silly comments. Some squads here just enjoy it
Let them continue to drop their silly comments. We will never get tired of refreshing their dull memories than cannot seem to recall how deep and hopeless we sank.
Even a seasoned multiple French league champion Paul le Guen avoided the SE job like a plague because according to him, based on the assessments of the state of the SE then, the targets of qualifying for 2018 world cup (which Uncle Odegbami said would take an underserved miracle) and reaching the semifinals of the 2019 AFCON was impossible.
We will never get tired of reminding them too.
Since birds have learnt to fly without perching, hunters too will learn to shoot without missing.
Its not their fault. I blame Ndidi for conceding that needless foul at a vantage distance close to the penalty box, in the last minute of that semifinal vs Algeria, knowing well they had a dangerous world class freekick specialist in their team.
@stan
If Rohr was super eagles problem after resurrecting the team, then our previous coaches that couldn’t qualify us for ordinary AFCON in 3 out of 4 editions were disasters.
In what ever way I think Rohr deserve some if not all credit.
He did pretty well during his tenure.
Under Rohr we felt we’ve have already won the game b4 it’s played.
That was the spirit he brought into the super eagles.
Imagine deducting 3 goals and 1 point from a team yet the team still qualify for world cup which we never thought Nigeria would make it with a game still remaining.
Has it ever happened in the history of Nigerian football?
Give Rohr some credit biko.
Rohr did well for the eagles, i dont think he deserve to be sacked that way, though he wasnt at his best and the super eagles deserve something better, but the timing was the mistake and his unceremonious exit, coused us the kamer that messed our national team, he should have been allowed to end his contract, he promised us the nations cup which you hardly see him sound that optimistic, it was unusual that was when i felt we should allow him finish his job, even the sack also affected our finance uptill now we are still struggling.
