Premier League: Firmino’s Late Winner vs Spurs Send Liverpool Top In The Table

Roberto Firmino’s last-minute header broke Tottenham’s stubborn resistance at Anfield and sealed a 2-1 win for Liverpool which sent them top of the Premier League table.

The game looked to be destined for a draw but in the 90th minute Firmino leaped well to plant a header into the top corner from Andrew Robertson’s corner.

Liverpool flew at Spurs in the opening exchanges and went ahead on 26 minutes when Mohamed Salah’s shot took a big deflection off Eric Dier and looped over Lloris.

Spurs had barely left their own half but struck with a counter punch seven minutes later when Son Heung-min raced clear to slip a composed finish past Alisson.

Spurs actually had the better chances in the second half, with Steven Bergwijn firing wide then hitting a post when clean through and Harry Kane heading over from point-blank range.

Spurs were left to regret those missed opportunities as the Reds went on to snatch the win and go three points clear at the top of the table.

In the other two games, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman and Tosin Adarabioyo were in action for Fulham in their 0-0 home draw against Brighton while Eberechi Eze helped Crystal Palace hold West Ham to a 1-1 draw away.
