Emmanuel Amuneke, Technical Manager of Heartland, remains unfazed ahead of the highly anticipated President Federation Cup ‘Oriental Derby’ against Rangers, set for today, 2 April 2025, at Awka City Stadium, Completesports.com reports.
The Round of 32 fixture is crucial for both teams as they seek a shortcut to securing a spot in the 2025/2026 CAF interclub competitions—an opportunity they seem to have missed through the NPFL.

“It’s just like any other game between the two teams. The only difference is that this is a cup competition where a winner must emerge after 90 minutes,” Amuneke said.
“And like every other encounter involving them, it’s always going to be tough. Both teams enjoy strong fan bases, and I expect an exciting match, as much as it will be competitive.
“For us (Heartland), our mentality, focus, and objective remain the same—to give our best and aim for victory. Of course, everyone knows the quality of Rangers, and we respect them for who they are and what they have achieved. But we will give our best and see what God has in store for us in the game.”

This will be Amuneke’s first time leading Heartland against Rangers in a domestic cup game since taking charge of the Naze Millionaires before the start of the 2024/2025 season.
On 23 November 2024, in an NPFL matchday 13 clash, both teams played out a goalless draw at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri. They will meet again next weekend in the corresponding matchday 33 fixture at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu—the Cathedral.
