Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is in contention to feature in Leicester City’s first Premier League match of the 2019/2020 season against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the King Power Stadium on Sunday despite resuming training with the Foxes this week, Completesports.com reports.
Ndidi was granted an extended break following his engagement with the Super Eagles at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The former KRC Genk of Belgium player featured in all of Nigeria’s seven games in the competition in which the Gernot Rohr’s men won the bronze medal.
And despite only resuming training with his teammates this week, Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers is willing to feature Ndidi in the match.
“Wilfred Ndidi and Filip Benković have been working very well since coming back. Wilf’s naturally fit and will be in the squad this weekend. All the players have come through really well and there’s no real injuries,” Rodgers stated in his interaction with the media on Friday.
Ndidi’s international teammate, Kelechi Iheanacho is also expected to play a part in the game.
