Rohr Backs Five Substitutes Per Match Rule

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has backed the new rule which allow teams to make five substitutions in a game, reports Completesports.com.

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) recently announced the change which will take effect once the different leagues restart following the coronavirus induced suspension.

The rule will also apply for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, while domestic competitions, including leagues which are due to end before December 31, 2020, will confirm if they will adopt the amendments.

“It gives us new possibilities to intervene during a match. We were already 18 in the national teams, there were more players on the sidelines than those who could come in, so there everyone is involved,”Rohr told Gironsdis4ever.

“This is important for the spirit of a group, rather than just three players who can play.

The coach can also intervene much more tactically, but also to avoid injuries. We have a lot more possibilities, it’s a very good measure. Maybe we will even keep it afterwards if that is satisfactory, we never know… The Bundesliga will serve as a test ball to see how it works ”.

Nice one oga rohr…  when you have enough weapons in your armory it’s always sweet to shoot, in this case when you have a quality bench substitution is sweet.

Yes Gernot rohr i agree with you.The only problem here now is that some people will attack you as if you are their generational problems.Never mind them.In as much you are in charge of super eagles continue your work and GOD will help you to succeed. One day you will go back to your country fulfilled that you have done your part to move nigeria forward than those people calling for your head.

Even if coaches like guardiola, mourinho, zidane etc coach countries like Dr Congo, bostwana, madagascar, benin republic, they will never win nations cup in africa.

Gernot Rohr, some of us are praying for you and never mind about the unfocus NFF we have in this country. They are preparing joseph yobo to take over from you (God forbid),when we have tested former ex-players like Finidi george and Mike Emenalo who can truly do something good.Joseph yobo should be given an assistant coach position to any U-17 Coach that will handle the youth team,so that they will know truly is capability.

Westahof succeeded in nigeria was because he was dealing directly with the former head of state Babangida and late Vice admiral augustus aikohmu. No local indigenous coach in nigeria will last 2yrs Never !!!!. Even late stephen keshi was rejected before our quarter final match against CIV in 2013 nations cup. They thought keshi will never beat CIV star studded team, and last last he triumhped.

For now we dont have any good local coach, what i expect the NFF to do in partnership with federal government/private sector/european clubs is to select some local coaches and ex-players and send them on coaching course to clubs like man utd,man city, madrid, barca, juventus etc put each of them in those clubs sitted beside those coaches and learn during matches.

Gernot Rohr, let me be foolish as i continue to support and pray for you.God bless Nigeria
