Rohr Coy On Clubless Musa Invitation For Benin, Lesotho Games

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr remains tight-lipped over calling up Ahmed Musa for the side’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Benin Republic and Lesotho, reports Completesports.com.

Musa is looking for a new club after severing ties with Saudi outfit Al Nassr last October.

The winger was close to securing a short-term deal at Premier League club West Bromwich Albion but the Baggies pulled out of the deal because of a lack of finances.

The 28-year-old was included in the squad for November’s back-to-back qualifiers against the Leone Stars Sierra Leone despite the fact that he was clubless at that time.

Rohr however refused to confirm if his captain will be selected for both games having last played in a competitive game in November 2020.

“It’s unfortunate it didn’t work out at West Brom but I believe Musa will find another club soon,” Rohr told BBC Sport Africa.

“He has the ambition to get back as quickly as he can to play football again at club level.

“Musa made a great impact for us in big matches like against Iceland in Russia, that is a reminder of the ability he has.

“I have no doubt he can discover his best form, the happiness and joy to play again. This will be good for us because we can get to see that impact in our squad.”

Musa has no business with the team for now.. It is sad that a player his quality would be missing because of a silly decision to go to Saudi to make money .

One reason I like this team is that once you lose your shirt it is very difficult to regain. Ask balogon, he had to work extra mile to reestablish the oyinbo wall, ask Onyekwere since he lost his slot, it has been almost impossible to reclaim it, ask Denis, it is almost good bye for him..

This might be the end for musa..

The last time he lost his shirt in the team when he was warming the bench for Leicester, it took him a wonder world cup goal against Iceland before he could claim back his shirt, can be repeat that. It would be more difficult now considering his age

  • Musa will be invited for the games based on his status as captain of the team (unless something dramatic happens) but I don’t think he should play in any of the games, his ability to influence games has greatly reduced and there will be no need to field an ineffective player when we have players like s.kalu and potentially A,lookman, who can both do a better job. He should sort out his clubless status first then return to compete for a starting spot in the team like everyone else.

  • Ndidi deserves the SE Captains Arm Band going forward based on his impact in Big Games on a global stage and his Impact for Leicester as their most Important player and Obviously the Stability he Brings when he plays for SE. It might be that we face the same problem that Leicester Faces when Ndidi doesn’t play. We Struggle to Win games, Just shows the Magnitude of the Man.

For Me Wilfred Ndidi should be drafted as Captain by the Next Qualifier Games. He is the most deserving player of that Arm Band on our rooster. We need not forget that the Arm Band Also Heightens a players Confidence not that Ndidi needs it because he plays with Huge confidence already but just imagine Ndidi with the Arm band he will be even more Immense than he already is. If that is even Possible. What a Player!!!!

@Ugo Iwunze… How do you want to give captaincy to Ndidi when you still have active older players like Leon Balogun in the team? He debuted before Ndidi with Eagles and he is still very key to the team…

      • Very Simple Question. Thanks for asking.

Answer: When Ndidi Plays it’s Difficult for us to loose to the Likes of Brazil and Ukraine. and when he is not in the team and your other So Called Older Players are, we can’t even beat the likes of Sierra Leone.

My guy you DON’T see the importance of Ndidi unless he is not in the team. Just ask Leicester and Super Eagles..

It’s the Same with Claude Makalele in his time in Real Madrid.

Also Ndidi is playing at a higher Level, for a team like I always say is Competing for the title in one of the best if not the best league in the world. How many of our players are this consistent. at such a High level at the moment in fact Name another Super Eagles player who is as invaluable to his team as Ndidi at present

  • We will continue to pray that Musa finds a Good club in a competitive League so as to Regain and Rebuild his Confidence and Ability 28 is not Old yet for a player We need not forget that Didier Drogba only really hit the heights we see now when he joined Chelsea and, he was 27yrs old when he Joined Chelsea

I spoke with my boyfriend about Musa and we felt like he should not be invited to the Super Eagles if he is not playing regularly.

I don’t understand + The fool has arrived – what a combination of names for a person. I doubt you are indeed a Doctor, as we write it as Dr when preceding names and not in full as you have used repeatedly.

  • Owngoalnigeria has put out a list they feel might potentially be similar to the one rohr has compiled for players to be invited for the next round of qualifying games. It has some new invites but no players who are rumoured to have switched allegiance to the Super Eagles are on the list. I guess we will never be sure until the real list comes out in about 10 days according to some reports.

Well, it’s simple. Captain Musa is still very much important to the Super Eagles.

I will advise Oga Rohr to invite Musa. His presence means a lot to the team. We can’t buy experience in the market and this is the time we needed his service as the leader of the team.

Musa is not new to this. Before the world in Russia, he was facing similar issues but thank God he survived the challenges.

He can even play few minutes in those encounters.

For example, Onome Ebi and Ordega doesn’t have club at the moment but they are professionals and they have been training days in days out and the new coach, Waldrum took both players to the ongoing tournament in Turkey.

This shouldn’t be a problem but the main problem is the tactics of the coach.

Super Falcons are without Desire Oparanozie and still, Falcons won their first match.

Oga Rohr shouldn’t be rigidi this time around but he have to extend his invitation to other players as well.

On the other hand, the gaffer can not do without Ighalo and Akpeyi. That should be a big concern for us all.

I’m sorry I can’t do without saying the truth.

The challenges ahead is beyond who will lead the team. We have Balogun, Ekong to say the least but you guys don’t seeing what I’m seeing kę.

Even, without Musa, Ighalo and Akpeyi, Super Eagles can beat any team if properly managed. Hmmm. Truth is bitter. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • So far so good…..Ndidi has not done anything spectacular for the SE. If you rewatch some of our old matches and focus on Ndidi, you will be surprised over some of the blunders he makes, which amongst others include wrong passes, and wasting of all the ‘out side 18’ shots that has ever been presented to him.
I will conclude by asking a question. A doctor who cannot write good English……..is that one a doctor?

This crazy doctor self go run like Dr Toto hahahahaha all the docs on this page I hail o. LMAO!

  • Muse should not be invited to the National team now or in the nearest future until he secures a club and gain playing time in his new club. Our National team should not be reduced to the level of street soccer where everything goes. After all we have capable legs in that position who are very active in their clubside. I don’t know what Musa can do on the right flank that Samuel Kali, Moses Simon, Dennis, Onyekuru etc cannot do. Our National jersey deserves a high some respect, the rest part of the footballing World are watching us, we should not begin to ridicule ourselves.
