Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr says a move to Serie A club Napoli will provide an opportunity for Victor Osimhen to further develop as a player, reports Completesports.com.
Osimhen, 21, is currently negotiating a move to the Italian club with the Pernotopei ready to offer him a five-year contract.
The young striker enjoyed a successful debut campaign with Ligue 1 club Lille where he scored 18 goals and recorded six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
Napoli are desperate to bring in the former VFL Wolsfburg of Germany forward as replacement for Arkadiusz Milik who is set to leave the club this summer.
Rohr said he expects Osimhen to take this chance.

”Of course, we are talking about a scorer, a player of power and speed. He is a fighter, he never accepts defeat, he always wants to win, even in training matches,”Rohr told Radio Punto Nuovo.
” During the last African Cup, he didn’t play very much, he had a very important player for Nigeria like Ighalo in front of him. When, however, Ighalo was forced to stop for an injury, Osimhen had his chance.
“Victor fought all week, training hard, but without ever giving problems to me or teammates if he remained on the bench.
“Victor has a great player mentality. And often, in our chats, I advised him to take an important step and go to a level club, where he can find the right space to play continuously and grow.
“He is a guy who loves to work hard and who needs to be in constant competition. I hope Victor talks about it with Gattuso and can then find the right role within the Napoli project. ”

He doesn’t preach love at all. He is indabosky pahosee. He will liquify their defences in serie A. My Vic, carry go.
Oga Rohr, you know all these about Victor yet you chose to play a bumbling Onuachu over him at AFCON.
…Exactly the same way oga Parreira played Bebeto and Romário upfront instead of a certain young Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima !!!…
…and just like Ronaldo, Vico Osimhen time has come and its time to move on!!!
@kaylord, have u ever heard of time and chances ? Onuachu was given d chance to impress based on his form at the time while osimhen’s time was not yet ripe at the time. No doubt, he (osimhen) would have been under intense pressure to impress if he was thrown into the ring before his time. That’s common sense.
If it was osimhen that started ahead of Onuachu at AFCON and somehow didnt live up to expectations, it is still people like you who will come out and blame Rohr for putting a player who was “top scorer in his club for 3 consecutive years” on the bench for a teenager.
Osimhen had played 3 matches for Nigeria b4 afcon and didnt even have a shot at goal…Onuachu scored with his 1st touch of the ball in a SE shirt. Going into afcon Onuachu was ahead of Osimhen in the pecking order of the No 9 position. Life na turn by turn…. Onuachu had his turn and blew it. Osimhen is having his own turn now and he is taking it. End of story…!
Prince you have said it all,Oshimeh time has come no brake no Jam, express road to success
Oshime wasn’t even supposed to make the team for afcon, he was selected instead of an iheancho, which shows rohn saw him as a star for the future
We not only have a Coach. He is a Good adviser, Father-figure to our Players abroad. What else can we add?? Nothing for me other than to say Coach GR has spoken well.
Go for it Oshimen! People saying Serie A is this and that are people who don’t believe in you! Someone once jokingly said “If you can live and survive in NIGERIA, You can survive anywhere in the World!” And it’s true. We’ve all played Backyard ball, Monkey post in Nigeria – those games are even harder than Serie A games…lol. In the North where I stay, we call it KILL AND GO! If they break your leg while playing, just pack yourself, go home, get well and come back stronger. So if Oshimen can survive in this tedious Street football in Nigeria, Serie A is too small. And his hunger to succeed as a Striker in the World is written all over his face when you see him play…so what else do you need to believe such a player. If Oshimen is Rumoured to be linked with Barca, Madrid, I believe he will still go there and succeed! Carry go brotherly
@Chairmanfemi.you get sense no be small. I never even think go that area of 9ja street balling. My brother you know how many times I break leg? Sometimes self na stick I go dey use Waka. That is why sometimes if I see England balling I will say to myself “time and chances ooooo” because I look at it as haa! Person wen supposed to dey mark you go give you like 3miles but 9ja street balling, d person wen dey mark you, go gum u like super glue no breathing space. I believe my Vic, our Vic, I referred to him as our because know everything 9ja football loving fan loves him. Vic will succeed in any league in the world unless material things start affecting. If he remains focus, he can achieve any thing he ever imagined.
