Rohr Owed $150,000 Three Months Salary By The NFF

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has not been paid his wages by the Nigeria Football Federation for three months, reports Completesports.com.

Veteran sports journalist, Osasu Obayiwana broke the news on his Twitter handle on Thursday night.

The @NGSuperEagles play a match against #SelecaoBrasileira in Singapore, at 8pm Singapore time on Sunday. Gernot Rohr, the Franco-German in charge of @Nigeria’s team, has not been paid his wages by the @thenff for THREE MONTHS,”Obayiwana tweeted.

Rohr is on a monthly salary of $50,000 and the NFF is owing him $150,000.

The NFF last paid the 66-year-old Franco-German tactician in June.

Rohr’s contract has been severally breached a number of times by the leadership of the NFF.

He was previously owed four months salary by the NFF this year.

  • Well, I hope lightning does not strike twice in the Glass House cos this time the glasses will shatter to smithscreens. If they try a ‘Danjuma’ scenario like in the case of Denerby, the SE may go on a nosedive like is happening now with the SF or like it did with the SE at Korea/Japan 2002 and it took us years to rebuild again after that forgettable World Cup.

Rohr’s salary is modest, by European standards. But it appears Pinnick and his board are on a destructive mission now. See Rohr’s recent interview below, done in his home country, Germany. I don’t know why CSN never re-aired the interview.

“There is lack of respect and promises are not kept” – Gernot Rohr casts doubts on Super Eagles future, reveals offers from four teams.

Super Eagles Head coach Gernot Rohr has revealed he may turn his back on the AFCON 2019 Bronze winning Nigerian team when his contract expires in 2020.

According to the Franco-German born coach, he has faced multiple broken promises, he isn’t respected and the Nigerian Football Federation has a lot of organizational problems that make working in Nigeria very difficult.

Rohr, was promised by the Nigeria Football Federation, headed by former Delta FA boss Amaju Pinnick, that he will go for coaching courses with Bayern Munich in Germany once AFCON 2019 but that promise like many others according to the tactician has been swept away.

    When asked Thursday (October 3) by German magazine, on the possibility of staying with Nigeria’s national team past 2020, Rohr replied;

“Yes and no. On the one hand, we have built a good team, the youngest on average in Africa.

“On the other hand, there are many things that make daily work difficult: lack of respect, organizational problems, promises are not kept. We will see how it goes on.”

When the magazine pressed him on offers, Rohr revealed he had received offers from four countries namely Morocco, Cameroon, Mali and Congo but that he loves Nigeria and will like to finish his contract.

“Yes. But I love this team and I really wanted to fulfill my contract.”

    • @kel, the “Danjuma scenario” will have Amapakabo in charge of the Super Eagles if Rohr goes awol, yeepaaa!!! Lol

To be honest, the Swedish mentality is very different to the French mentality and I don’t see Rohr walking away before his contract expires. He has too much to lose. He is “building something” and besides the team on the pitch there are other investments he is making with the most exciting prospects the Nigerian players proffer.

It is not by accident that we have more Nigerian players in the top 5 leagues in the world, for the second year running.

Yes, he is owed money, but I wouldn’t worry about his loyalty.

Not saying it is right by any measure, but one bet that I’m willing to take is that the NFF and Amaju will implode before Rohr finishes his contract.

It seems to be coming to a crescendo, the chaos at the NFF, with no full league program for two seasons, no plan for the 2019/20 season by the NFF, LMC, NPFL. It took the sports minister to announce the start of the season which by the way is running three months late since Shehu Dikko announced that we will synchronize with the world calendar this year. The only response from any of the football bodies was the prompt resignation of the LMC chairman Nduka irabor the very next day, apart from that, silence from those meant to implement the directive from the Sports minister

The CHAN/Wafu fiasco with trying to shoehorn the Under 23s into senior level competition and now Dennerby going AWOL and the falcons crashing out of the Olympic qualification.

The problem is squarely at the NFF and the French man is acutely aware of this and is equipped better than the Swedish to deal with this. Afterall, the French didn’t colonize half of Africa based on their rigid mindset. The French are more flexible and play a better long game

      • You’re right @BigD. Rohr (and French coaches) may have more tenacity/endurance than some of their Western counterparts like Swedish, English men etc. Having worked in Niger, Gabon and married to an African, Rohr is partly like us and understands our ways and mentality. Perhaps it’s no accident there are more foreign coaches of French origin in Africa than other European nationalities. The English and Swedish ones, any small thing that shocks them, they go AWOL. Hehehehe.

There’s no coach the NFF has not owed money since 1945

    • Kweli 5 years ago

Absolutely! This should not be news. Now if the same thing happened with the English, Brazilian, Spanish, German or Argentinian coaches, now THAT would be news.

The power to fix the crippling nation lies with the youth instead they have allowed alcohol sex and pepper dem soup to distract them for fighting for the nations. Hit the street in a peaceful protest.

All this madness will not happen in advanced countries but Nigerian youths are not different from uneducated Ugandans that is why they don’t know their right and continue wallowing in suffering and smiling.

Waiting to read from Segun Odegbami…I’m weeping in my closet if we win against Brazil it will only worse situations because by then all the evil happening to our developments will further be discarded because football and most of these entertainments are the device used to deceive Nigerians.

  • So now southgate believe 50 players can made up tournament squad instead of normal 21 players as he is planning to add up saka to next year euro championship squad.

You are right bro, bunch of useless and lazy youths, they are waiting for the people that destroyed their destinies to give them  brighter futures. Rohr is owed three months while some common tugs in Lagos and soulless, smelly jihadists in Aso Rock are living large.is very unlikely to build a successful nation without a bloody revolution. Everything is rotten and chaotic in Nigeria my people WHY?

Pinnick is a talker not a doer, if you watch the way this man’s mouth runs, you would think his the best thing that ever happened to us in the football glass house; the same reason why he got the caf v.p post only to be kick out in less than two months. Amaju your house is ablaze and you going about as if everything’s going as planned’
Its time this politician is questioned thoroughly before we loose it all with the Super Eagles going the same route of other National level teams’
Bloody hypocrite reminds me of our dubious Leaders in this Country_ they promise you 10 points agenda and after 8 years in office you can’t single out one thing that they resolved’ they come in to meet 7 problems, they make sure that they add 7 more problems before they Shamelessly leave the seat mtchww_

    Naija` see Hw living Now!!!
