Rohr Retains Okoye, Akpoguma For Super Eagles Vs Leone Stars

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has retained Maduka Okoye and Kevin Akpoguma in his starting line-up for today’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Sierra Leone, reports Completesports.com.

The duo struggled in the side’s 4-4 home draw against the Leone Stars last Friday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Ola Aina will however take the place of Zaidu Sanusi at left-back, while Kelechi Iheanacho will lead the attack in place of the injured Victor Osimhen.

Leon Balogun and William Troost- Ekong kept their place in defence, while Oghenakaro Etebo, Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi will take charge of the midfield.

Captain of the team Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze will also operate from the left and right wings.

The Super Eagles will don their white top, white shorts and green hose for the game.

  • This man don’t know what’s your problem,be reminded that NIgerians can’t accept anything short of victory I rest my case

  • MrStreamZ 3 years ago

Why can’t he drop Ekong just like he drop sanusi ..Ekong n sanusi cost our last game . Okoye was not the problem!!! Why not bring in Dennis instead of Musa! Well dey know dia reasons ..dey are with Dem in training ground dey know Berra than me

  • This old man is a rearded fool with a low IQ. Akpoguma at right back again?

Rohr and Pinnick, the Con men.

  • Gowetok 3 years ago

    Im spheechless

  • Kelvin again? I really don’t know why he put this guy in the starting lineup again? Is it he because he is also a German? I am not understanding.

  • Hope you know what you’re doing, Rohr? Cos you’re looking so predictable these days. Even the SL coach could have predicted this lineup and you proved him right.

This is a make or break match for you. I hope you were able to read the sports minister Dare’s lips. He has indirectly told you your job is on the line and most of your even ardent fans have lost confidence in you.

So much will be riding on the outcome today. We wait with crossed fingers and even legs. Lol. If this your Okoye, Akpoguma (and maybe Onuachu) gamble flops, some of us will not shed a tear for you when the consequences come bearing down on you like a sledgehammer.

Hmmmmm let’s wait and see but it seems my friend mr Rohr is tired of this Job

Nawa Roh…Akpoguma again. What’s Ebuehi doing on the bench and again what is Sanusi doing on the Bench

  • Hahahahahaha….

ROHR and SARRI are in the same facebook page…..

When Sarri was at chelsea he doesn’t toil with BAKAYOKO….

ROHR doesn’t joke with his RB man @KEVIN….

BUT WE CELEBRATED KEVIN NA; SO LET’S JUST BEAR WITH HIS FLAWS….

WELL I ACTUALLY COME TO SEE HOW ROHR WOULD BE CRUCIFIED AND HANG ON THE POLE OF SIERRA LEONE TODAY….
    LOL….

    MEET U ALL BY 7PM….

I don’t know guys but I feel like Rohr promised Akpoguma regular regular playing time if he switches nationality because I don’t see why Rohr is being stubborn with this Akpoguma guy…I love and respect what Rohr has done for the eagles I just don’t like some his tactics hopefully he would prove the haters wrong today….if Apkoguma must play then use a back 3

  • Why not play wingbacks with Ola Aina and Shehu Adamu.
They can track back and support the midfield and attack.
When the SE is leading bring in Akpoguna for any of the central defenders and Ebuehi for an attacker to pack the bus and save their 3 points?

    Rhor. Rhor Rhor.

A massively BIG THUMBS UP TO ROHR. This is just how to be a manager. LET THE WORLD KNOW YOU ARE IN CHARGE. Anyone can go to blazes. Allowed, everyone has a right to their prefered team selection but you ROHR, ALAWAYS HAS TO SHOW, YOU ARE IN CHARGE AND BE READY TO DARE THE CONSEQUENCES. I am already happy irrespective of todays result because your taking up this stand of showing you are in charge will help truly define next line of action. JEHOVAH GOD PROTECT AND BLESS THE SE AND TECHNICAL CREW IN JESUS NAME{DIVINE LOVE}.

  • Really, the man is not smart. Well, if he loses today’s match, he would have to leave our national team.

    Roar or rhor or rohr
And his experiments. He is aware Benin republic played goalless draw with Lesotho this afternoon so he can afford to play eiher draw with lone stars or throw away the three points. He will at the end of the game tell the fans and his employers that the standard of football has improved in Africa or that the weather in Freetown was not favourable. Hmmm.

    • Exactly but we won’t take that nonsense anymore. If he fails to win today, he would have to go. We don’t need an expired coach. We need someone with great ideas.

    For me:

Let the coach do his job,

There must be something in that Kelvin guy he is seeing that we are not seeing.

Massive gamble because if it fails the whole of Nigeria would be on his neck but as a coach you must take the risk..

I wish Kelvin a good game today, show Nigerians what you are made up of and they would sing your praise

Even though I disagree with the line-up, I give it to World class GR for reminding us who’s in charge..
Akpo for Ekong, Aina RB, Zaidu LB, Shehu DM.. Dennis ATT

Even though am not GR biggest fan, I really do have to admire his bravery in still picking Okoye and Akpoguma in the starting 11..
Dropping them will definitely somewhat decimate their confidence and every success in life still has a hint of luck..
Am hoping those two show up massive..
GR is a good coach no doubt but I still really don’t feel GR will win a trophy or enter a WC 2nd round with us.. Because I believe he lives of his experience and doesn’t accommodate much change.. And everyone knows how hard it is to teach an Old dog new tricks..

However I do still feel we will win..

Also Hopefully Obodo captors can have a good feeling and do the needful..

Maduka Okoye again?? Dat guy was a big flop in Benin, conceding cheap goals with poor reflexes..I know Osigwe n Akpeyi are much better than him..I sense foul play within d goalkeeping section,d trainer should be held responsible should any flop repeat itself again..Aloy or shorommu, make una do well oo..Maduka still needs to learn more before being eagles #1..
