Former Real Madrid star Clarence Seedorf admits he has doubts whether Eden Hazard can reach his potential to be one of the world’s best players while at the reigning Laliga giants.
Hazard joined Madrid in a deal that could be worth up to around £150million following his transfer from Chelsea in 2019.
However despite picking up a LaLiga winner’s medal in this first season in Spain, the winger struggled with injuries resulting in a severely disappointing campaign.
But Hazard’s form while on the pitch also fell short of expectations and Seedorf has questioned the 29-year-old’s motivation and whether he can match the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s consistency to perform at their best.
“I have always said that Hazard can be up there [with the best players in the world],’ the Dutchman told Goal. “But it’s about are you motivated to be the best?
“So, it’s about the consistency which Messi and Ronaldo have shown. Cristiano has shown all the players that they can be consistent over the years at that level and that’s a mentality thing, that’s a motivation and drive that champions have.”
Hazard featured in just 22 games throughout last season, only managing to score once, and provided seven assists.
A fractured foot and a hamstring injury hindered his progress last term but his Madrid nightmare has continued as once more he has started the season injured.
He has not featured in Madrid’s opening four games of the 2020-21 campaign due to a knock as well as a muscle injury.
As a result of his fitness issues, the Belgium captain is not part of his country’s squad ahead of upcoming Nations League matches against England and Iceland.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
