Sheffield United have been mentioned as an English club interetsed in signing Genoa’s Ivorian forward Christian Kouame. The 21-year-old only moved to the Italian Serie A outfit from second-tier side Cittadella last summer and went on to score four goals and chip in with six assists in 38 league appearances.

Kouame’s form has resulted in speculation linking him with a host of clubs with Bologna believed to be leading the chase to keep him in Italy’s top flight. However, Gazzetta dello Sport have reported ‘Sheffield’ as a club which wants to sign Kouame with it presumed to be the Premier League new-boys United and not their Championship neighbours, Wednesday.
The Blades are definitely in the market for a new younger striker, but whether they would risk paying a club-record 15million euros for Kouame remains to be seen.
