“Awaziem is a little bit under the weather and it has nothing to do with Covid-19,” the official disclosed to Completesports.com.

“We expect him to be back in training soon and all things equal he should be available for selection in our last group game against Guinea-Bissau.

The 25-year-old has been capped 26 times by Nigeria with a goal to his name.

Hmm. Is it true that the guy is sick or injured? I just hope the CB position won’t be our Achilles heels in the competition going forward. A player like Akpoguma should be in this team for the Afcon. Wishing the Eagles the best all the way.

I learnt Awaziem came to camp with injury, that is so bad of him , thereby denying other players the opportunity to represent Nigeria , especially Akpoguma !!…I am not happy with his selfish action!!..we need all other players to win this cup , now we are short of three!!

It was the same spirit of selfishness that prevented us from beating the Egyptian team more than a lone goal on Tuesday.

Although I admire his bravery and patriotism. But it was a big risk he took. The injury which he thought is just a minor one and could be okay before the Afcon proper could become complicated during training session and then that would be life threatening. That might force him into early retirement.. players should try and be honest in managing injuries cos life comes first.

Oga Onyeama has promised 10 million naira for each goal scored(scorer) as they progress and 50 million naira for the trophy. So expect more of the selfishness. LMAO!

    • He will recover soon by God’s grace.

No time to blame anybody now.

I understand he came to camp knowing fully well he was injured and he missed his club’s last two matches, I just think he blocked the likes of Kelvin Akpoguma, now see he can’t play. Really unfair.

  • God will lay hand on him and he will be well soon.

Amen. My brother.. maybe that was his thought. That it will heal before the Afcon. You know I love guys with patriotism o. Love for their country but puting your life at risk isn’t that too much. Am not even talking about the wasted slot self. That was why initially I said I was short of words cos it’s actually touching for me.. when I heard it I was like eya…

If the rummors were true, I really don’t have anything to say cos we had people that were not injured, who controversially refused to turn up for the tournament. But here you have Awaziem hiding his injury and missing his club games all to represent his fatherland. Really short of words guys…

You are a confirmed lunatic…..So hiding your injury is not detrimental to the team?

  • @sean let us not blame the guy too much, we have team doctors and others official who access players fitness before clearing such to be fully fit.

If those official can’t be professional enough to advice coach to ask the player in question to go back or maybe the coach decided to risk the player with injury, then such player should not be blame but the officials or coach who refuse to do the right thing by replacing Him on time.
