Stockdale Stars In Ulster Win

Jacob Stockdale was the star of the show as Ulster kept their Champions Cup hopes alive with a 26-22 win over Racing 92 on Saturday.

The Ireland winger grabbed two of Ulster’s three tries at Kingspan Stadium – the second of which was a superb solo effort – and he has now scored in all five European matches the Irish province have played this season.

Robert Baloucoune grabbed Ulster’s other try on his debut and the victory has moved Dan McFarland’s side to within three points of Pool Four leaders Racing, who secured two bonus points after scoring four tries of their own through Virimi Vakatawa, Simon Zebo, Brice Dulin and Oliver Klemenczak.

Both sides now appear well placed to advance through to the quarter-finals while Saturday’s victory means Ulster still have a chance of topping the pool although they will need to beat Leicester Tigers in their final game next weekend and hope Scarlets do them a favour against Racing.

Only the pool winners are guaranteed a place in the knockout stages as the three best runners-up will also advance.
