EQUAVOEN SHOULD NOT BE CARRY AWAY WITH DRIBBLING SKILL OF MOSES SIMON. MOSES SIMON CAN ONLY DRIBBLE SUCCESSFULLY AGAINST A FLUKE COUNTRY LIKE GUINEA-BISSAO. THERE ARE BETTER PLAYERS IN THE TEAM PRESENTLY LIKE AMAO, LOOKMAN THAT CAN DRIBBLE SUCCESSFULLY AND SCORE GOALS WITH EASE AGAINST ANY TEAM.

    • Gritty 2 years ago

So bad that Moses Simon could not lay a good pass to either Nacho or Osimhen. Don’t they know wats called two to beat one? Pass the ball and run in immediately to receive back the ball.

Even Chukwueze, the two wingers trying to dribble into the 18, no way… Pass your ball quickly and open up to receive it again.

      No good shot on target…

Egu, maybe you will need to use Lookman and Dennis in your start up o while playing a midfield trio of Frank, Etebo and Aribo (or swap Aribo to Etebo roles). And bring in Amoo in 2nd half as the AM to replace Aribo or Etebo. Iheanacho should not start pls.

Finally, VO9 should try to reduce his over running around the entire field, just stay around the opponent’s half always to receive passes and VO9 should learn to cut with one foot and strike with the other. To avoid defenders blocking his shots. Cheers!

Amoo has ferocious shots from outside the 18-yeard box as well. But you know in Nigeria, we like to use unreasonable seniority sentiments to kill our own progress. During the AFCON, the most valuable player for the Burkina Faso side was a guy that played in the same league as Amoo. In yesterday’s game, the best player for Ghana was their 19-year old midfielder (Kudus or something?). Why can’t we go for the best and jettison corruption and sentiments in all we do???
Information from the camp indicated that Ighalo could not keep up with the pace of the attacks. Why did he come to camp? What is Sheu doing in the team? Why must Chukwueze feature in the team when it is obvious his form on the national side has been lost for some time now? Why must Simon be left on the pitch if he appears not to be performing?

      • Dr Banks 2 years ago

Ask yourself this question……..if Ayew Abedi Pele was not suspended, will Kudus make the starting lineup?

        • Yaw opare 2 years ago

I warned you guys about kudus severally on this platform but no one paid attention. Kudus is now preferred in the no10 roles and ayew is shifted to the right hand side of attack. They have always played together and have a fantastic telepathy. He’s one for the future. Look out for yaw yeboah as well. With the new coach, I believe new and exciting players will be called to the black star to gradually phase out the old legs. Go Ghana!

  • True, “Talk ur own” we need to use the creative skill, speed and tight control of Akin Amao, particularly in the midfield area. The coach can bring him in from the Bench in the 2nd half to run at the Ghanains and free uo space for Osimen and Dennis to score goals.

    • yusuf adebola 2 years ago

How are you sure those you mentioned can dribble successfully? Have you watched them play for Eagles before?

  • Onyeka Okpara 2 years ago

To be honest the fact we did not score an away goal is a major problem .Hope it does not come to hunt us

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

I don,t understand how people are ignoring this fact….A 1-1 draw ends our qualification hope. Meaning that the longer the game drags the more dangerous it becomes for us. Trust Ghana to park the bus as they have it all to play for and realizing that 1 goal can change their fortunes…Very dicy situation we have ourselves in. Egu you are not fit to take this team to the WC even if you qualify. Iheanacho for 90 mins???? and You take out Aribo??

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

        Don’t**

      • Dr Banks 2 years ago

@Footballfanatic you fall my hand, so you’re not aware that away goal rule has been canceled?

        • Donbenie 2 years ago

FIFA have not canceled the away goals rule, only UEFA has done that.

      • Egu is incompetent for leaving ihanacho on the pitch n taking off Aribo. He’s not competent to be a coach. Worst coach ever.

    • We should be happy also that we are not expected to cancel 2 or 3 goals…

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

True that but we shouldn’t be complacent when we already have one leg in. If we had lost it’ll be a diff story

    • Steve O 2 years ago

No more away goal rule !!..that is no more away goal advantage!!

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

You must be out of touch with current football news..Yes the away rule still stands in the African WC qualifiers. Don’t misinform people or our players.

  • Selfmade KING 2 years ago

Egu is one dimensional coach and he ll open up in Abuja!!

    That ll be his downfall

    • Dondada 2 years ago

So he didn’t open up in your useless stadium kumasi? You be real asshole

  • And at the same time, cerezo should deploy his 1st eleven in Abuja. We cannot afford a draw at all therefore, Ekong, Balogun, Aina are good. Amoo, Ighalo, Osimhen all ok. I will still play Moses ahead of Lookman, Zaidu deserves his place in the defense. Uzoho remains our goal tender. The middle should contain Aribo-Etebo, Onyenka could come in 70mins on.

    • Calistus Effeom 2 years ago

Debi if I get you right, Keeper -Uzoho

Defenders- Ekong, Balogun, Aina and Zaidu

      Midfield- Amoo, Etebo and Aribo

      Forwards- Moses, Ighalo and Osimhen.

I am thinking Onyenka should start in place of Amoo but surely, I’m not the coach.

      • Udema 2 years ago

@Callistus, It is a good line up but I support you on Onyenka.

    • Only two midfielders is not good for us o. Play Frank & Aribo & Etebo Midfield combo. Ighalo can come in 2nd half for Osimhen.

Lookman seems more purposeful in his play than Simon. Simon is allowing the AFCON play get into his head. Bro, we don’t need your needless dribbles make runs and pull that ball out or pass quickly and open up immediately.

What we need is goals and assists!!!

  • Alonso 2 years ago

He is learning his lessons. The mistake Eguavoen made in Kumasi was to have started Iheanacho and Bonke. We all saw how Bonke was always facing the defense instead of attack. That was poor. Eguavoen must be very careful in the 2nd leg or else, we are out of the World cup. He must put his best foot to use because Ghana is still very much o their race.

    • adeola 2 years ago

I have been hoping for a 343 formation where we will have the wing backs in ola and simon joining the midfield and suppling crossings to the 3 forwards in the mold of Victor, Dennis and Igalo, when defending we have two of the forwards help in the midfield. I appreciate the efforts of the whole team with the coaching crew hope we get it right next time suggested line up

      Balogun semiAjayi Efgong
      ola etebo oyeka/Aribo simon
      osihmen Igalo dennis

  • Michael Olaleye 2 years ago

The problem is Eguavon is not going to handle Eagles successfully if we qualify for the world Cup. We will just be the whipping boy of whichever group we are pooled. GEus a good coach .

  • bonje 2 years ago

3-5-2 is the only formation that can win the next match.

    Take it or leave it.

Simon and chukwueze shd come in as subs they will make more impact.

    • Adeola 2 years ago

352 is a good formation but we will be taking a little out of some of our players and certain players won’t function with the formation it’s one of my favorite formation but it won’t bring the best out of some of players 343 might just do it similar to 352 but in this you have more attackers which will enable the wing backs cross balls to more players up front and two of the forwards and also help in the midfield when defending

  • Only two midfielders is not good for us o. Play Frank & Aribo & Etebo Midfield combo. Ighalo can come in 2nd half for Osimhen.

Lookman seems more purposeful in his play than Simon. Simon is allowing the AFCON play get into his head. Bro, we don’t need your needless dribbles make runs and pull that ball out or pass quickly and open up immediately.

if Egu is a good coach he could have converted Ola Aina to a midfielder and probably use it to fill up Ndidi space and put Aribo on the bench. Aribo does not have the mental strength to handle ghana aggressive play.
I am afraid of Egu coaching impetus it is only God that can safe Nigeria in this return leg.

  • Edoman 2 years ago

My fellow Nigerians, If Egua fails to place our Akinkunmi Amoo to play in Abuja, Ghana will carry the day, God forbid. l am begging you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Let Amoo play the full 90 minutes in Abuja, to make sure Nigeria host our Flag one more time in World Cup.

    • SE Supporter 2 years ago

No need to beg him. He has probably been bribed by the old timers who have enough money to throw around. Amoo is young, fast, skillful and powerful.

      • Adeola 2 years ago

In as much as I agree with you no matter who the player is if the tactics of the coach does not align with the player style of play there’s nothing he can do. The players we have or that played yesterday can get the work done but the tactics was right for them considering the formation the Ghanaians use

  • SE Supporter 2 years ago

Don’t go on your knees to beg him. He will be disgraced out of the position just like Siasia. The truth is that Amoo’s career will be great with or without Super Eagles.

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

I think it is time we begin to critically tell ourselves the truth about certain overhyped players that we have… chief in this category are the likes of Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Kelechi Iheanacho. I believe it was clear yesterday that we cannot continue to field these players as senior first team guys… those three have enjoined more than due privilege in the Super Eagles at the expense of other more deserving players… they also hugely contributed to our below par performance in Cameroon… we will need Nwakaeme, Victor Moses and Obinna Nwobodo specifically if we make it past Ghana for the world cup proper… I would not mind dropping Chukwueze and Iheanacho out of the World Cup team. I cant see how Iheanacho is a better player than Awoniyi, just like Chukwueze… they are just one dimensional unreliable players… they just did not have the level yesterday… and they have shown that crassness of yesterday several times in the past…

    • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Am with you on this @JimmyBall.

You see gentleman, Moses Simon, Nacho and Chukwueze must be benched on Tuesday if Nigeria have to qualify for the World Cup.

Super Eagles needed Nwobodo and Azubuike after the game against Ghana on Tuesday. Also, Dessers.

I saw the clear picture of the coaching crew in yesterday’s match and I don’t think coach Eguavoen has learnt from Afcon and I doubt if he has what it takes to be with the team.

There’s no much difference between coach Eguavoen and Oga Rohr I must be honest with you and other Nigerians.

Super Eagles would have won the match easily yesterday against Ghana if the coaching crew were technically and tactically sound.

The coaching crew did not select the right players and no game plan as well. As a coach, you need game plans. Plan A, B and C should be in place but the coaches doesn’t have that.

We saw that against Tunisia and now against Ghana.

Even if we qualify for the World Cup, are we going to Qatar to make the numbers again? It is well. God bless Nigeria!!!

      • I was surprised for Kelechi lasting the whole 90mins on the pitch yesterday. Aribo should not have been subbed at all. I mentioned it here before, Eguavoen needs a new supporting striker and Aribo or Amoo will play that role better. Also, Chukwueze is too predictable and predicted he is going to fizzle out in soccer soon. Injury may have affected him but should have gotten it back. Etebo is an example of a good player, picked up immediately after a long spell with injury. A certain Babatunde that played the role in 2014 world cup would have benched Kelechi 24 times. I will even prefer Iwobi to play that role, not slow Kelechi that lose the ball on one touch when pressurized. It is why they use him mostly as top strikers in his club because of his selfishness and sluggishness. They know he can poach more that assist goals but we have better strikers in super eagles. He was only able to play supporting striker role successfully at U-17 because he was above his peers then and still scored than the strikers. Now that he is rolling with big boys that are better than him and would not take nonsense, he should be operating from the bench and should only play 10 to 20mins. Eguavoen should get the balls to bench Kelechi and Chukwueze and start Amoo and either Lookman or Dennis in the second leg. He should not care about Amuneke, which I think would prefer to play Chukwueze before he discovered him and they both use left leg.

  • Chukwueze shouldn’t start on Tuesday, dennis should take his place. The midfield should be made up of onyeka, aribo, etebo based on their performance in the first leg. Aribo should play behind osimhen not kelechi. Simon should start and lookman can come in later as he is still adjusting to African style of football. The same applies to bassey and zaidu.
But I subscribe to the idea of bringing in more midfielders in the mould of nwobodo, alhassan, Raphael etc I think they will fit into the team very well if given the chance. Raphael with his imposing figure and long ball distribution, alhassan with his workaholic nature and good ball winning skills, nwobodo with his skilful ability. I can see all three of them starting a game if they are well integrated into the team. Their combination may be what the team needs.
