Tomkins Back At Hull KR

Hull KR captain Joel Tomkins has returned to the club after leaving hospital following a bout of serious concussion.

The 31-year-old suffered the head injury during the Robins’ 28-14 Super League defeat against Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday after a bad tackle from home player Blake Austin.

Austin was sin-binned for the challenge, while Tomkins was forced out of the encounter and admitted to the local hospital for treatment.

After being checked over, Tomkins was allowed to leave hospital later on Saturday night and opted to stay with family in nearby Wigan.

He has now travelled back to Hull on Sunday and will undergo further treatment from the medical staff on Monday.

Head coach Tim Sheens will wait to see if Tomkins passes a concussion test on Thursday to see if he is able to line up against London Broncos next Sunday.

However, there is a chance that he will be rested given that the game comes just one day after the seven-day window when players are unable to take part after they have suffered concussion.
