Turkey: Musa Scores Winning Goal As Fatih Karagumruk Beat Istanbul Basaksehir Away

Ahmed Musa bagged the winner as Fatih Karagumruk rallied back to beat Istanbul Basaksehir 2-1 in their Turkish Super Lig clash on Saturday night.

Egypt forward Mahmoud Trezeguet put the hosts ahead in the 25th minute.

Fabio Borini equalized for the Fatih Karagumruk six minutes before the break.

Musa then scored the decisive goal in the 41st minute.

The Nigeria captain was replaced by Yann Karamoh 25 minutes from time.

The 29-year-old has scored two goals in 21 league appearances for his club this season.

Well done cappo. The prayers of all Nigerians are with you. You have been relentless in Turkey this season. You will play like a house on fire against Ghana. Heaven bless Ahmed Musa and all previous controversial Super Eagles captains.

  • pompei 2 years ago

Very energetic performance from the SE captain today!
Full of pace, a constant threat to the opponent’s defense, and got a good goal.
I also noticed how he kept coming back to help out with defensive duties.
    Still looks good to me!

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

36 year old Ahmed Musa according to some people who were present during his naming ceremony is still scoring for his club. A bench warmer according to them has scored 4 goals and about 3 assists in all competitions so far this season. Ride on Captain Mansa Musa you’re leading the SuperEagles to Qatar if we qualify.

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Ayphillydegreat & @Pompei… How many times have both of you guys written eulogies and sang halleujah praises like this for Anthony Nwakaeme? When we talk of folks here applying double standards as in this case now… someone will be insulted!!!

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

@JimmyBall. You’re the one who claims Musa is 36 because you know his mom very well. Lmao!! Anthony Nwakaeme is 32 real age Abi?? Lmao!! Nwakaeme is not even in the same class as Sadiq and Awoniyi. He can’t even tie the laces of Ighalo that’s why nobody gives a hoot if he scores 30 goals in the Turkish league. Between Osimhen Ighalo Awoniyi Sadiq Iheanacho even Olayinka who is Nwakaeme coming to bench?? Maybe you should ask your own why they didn’t deem it fit to invite him. With all your issues with Rohr he was the one who gave him his SuperEagles cap and he flopped big time against Algeria in our last WorldCup qualifiers for Russia. Lmao!! Nwakaeme ko Ndibuisi ni.

  • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Ayphillydegreat… Lol. Usual rhetorics. We know some of you with double standards. I did not give birth to Nwakaeme or Musa. But yes Musa isn’t less than 36yrs. Nwakaeme could be 38yrs old for all I care but his performance drowns that of Musa in same Turkey league tger are playing in.

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

    Congratulations the real “SENIOR MAN”!!!

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Lmao!! Nwakaeme could be 38 years for all you care but he should be called up ahead of Awoniyi Sadiq Osimhen Ighalo Iheanacho because he has scored 10 goals in all competitions in the Turkish league. Lmao!!

The only big European leagues he has played are Israeli and Turkish leagues Lmao!! At 32!! And he should be invited at who’s expense?? Keep deceiving yourself about double standards I’m sure even your own is not that naive to call him up ahead of even an Olayinka Lmao!!

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

The fact you don’t even know what you are talking about… Is Nwakaeme a centre forward? Why don’t you compare Musa to Osimhen, Sadiq and Awoniyi yourself. Musa only did exceptionally well in Russia and Netherlands. How many times did he play for Leicester before he was demoted to their junior team and subsequently eased and shown the door?

      • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Nwakaeme plays mostly as a center forward this season. Even if he’s a winger at 32 who is he better than in the present SuperEagles?? Let Nwakaeme go and do exceptionally well in Russia and Netherlands too na? In his 4 years in Turkey he has only averaged 10 goals a season. Onyekuru scored more than 10 goals in his first season in Turkey. This is Musa’s first season in Turkey and he has scored 4 goals despite limited playing time as claimed by people like you who don’t know what they’re talking about. If you like cry till tomorrow Musa is leading the SuperEagles to Qatar if we qualify.

SE don’t lack power upfront so all these debates about who scored or not isn’t necessary. Ghana has been going around the world searching quietly for good goalkeepers to use against SE while we are here still debating who is best among our strikers and midfielder. Even Egu the coach and Amunike the assistant are in London to check for some strikers and midfielders according to the media. It seems we Nigerians have failed to realized why we existed the AFCON prematurely. If u followed that AFCON very well u will realize that the teams with the best keepers got to the final. Even fews days ago we saw how Chiamaka Anodazie single handedly qualified super falcons for AFCON. Also last Thursday we saw how a hapless Napoli second keeper rendered Osihmen and his teammate useless against Barcelona. When will Nigerians learn? We have a crucial world qualifying matching coming next month against an eternal rival yet till now no keeper and no is debating the best way out this quaqmire. With our present first choice keeper Ghana will surely tear SE to pieces with visionary midfielders and powerful strikers. Forget their AFCON. Ghana will come out smoking. They have very good midfielders who are better than our midfielders in my opinion so they will create chances to score. I hope we know how shaking SE defence his. Who will save our blushes like chiamaka Anodazie should be our worry right now

    • Four four two, Don’t die before you are buried. With all things that Ghana team is not a match to our team. If theyhave travelling around the world to look for goal keeper, it shows they are confused. A new goal keeper will usually need time to adjust.

Sometimes, we like to die before we are killed.

On nwakeme, will he come to to score 2 or three goals in a match? No. He is not Ronaldo. I ma not saying he should not be invited but not at the expense of a captain who is still playing and is fit. Musa will give more to the team than nwakeme.

What keshi was given to the team in his days..we need that for this the young team.

This goal is dedicated to bros Ugo uwunze.

      • Golden Child 2 years ago

I hope you do not come back to regret this statement. He has made a valid submission and you discarded it as if it does not matter. We need a reliable goal keeper and I do not think Maduka is it. I would have said uzoho should start but he has not been getting game time. Searching for reliable gk is not a bad idea.

Whilst we may have better outfield players, the Ghanaians appear really serious about the wc qualification. Whether that will be good enough to get past us is another thing. Most Nigerians appear to be too overconfident because of the quality of outfield players we have but all it takes is a long range STRIKE to beat okoye and defend as if their lives depend on it and we are out. We saw it with Tunisia but our arrogance as a nation has not allowed us to learn anything from the premature afcon exit.

You can not attain any level of success without a dependable gk and the gks we have , only uzoho inspires confidence but he has not been playing of late.

If peradventure qualify for the tourney , we will be disgraced at the wc because okoye is not good enough for now.

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Christian Ministries Nigeria… When was the last time Musa started a game? Dude has been in national team for almost 12years now… the fact he is not a starter anymore tells he is not indispensable.

    • Dr Banks 2 years ago

@4-4-2, so because Ghana has been searching for GKs in Sheffield United U-23 team and NPFL Rangers, does that means they are doing a better search than Nigeria that have GKs playing weekly in Eredivisie. So you want a completely new GK in the SE set up to come and rescue us in a make or mar tie with Ghana? Surely you know nothing about team chemistry and team play.

I n every competition, goals are scored all the time due to mistakes from any player on the field, could be a defender, an attacker or a GK, the team will correct their mistakes and move on unless the coach thinks someone else is better after assessing him over time.

Just last week Monday, Ospina made a howler against Cagliari to let in a harmless shot (though he saved many other dangerous shots in that game) but then come his reserve GK on Thursday who became a basket against Barca letting in 4 easy goals. So guy be careful what you wish for………Okoye is still our best GK in terms of current form and experience for now

  • pompei 2 years ago

I actually like Nwakaeme. He’s a good striker. He’s a bit slow compared to guys like Osimhen, Dennis, Awoniyi, Sadiq and even Iheanacho. However, he excels at shooting at goal. Very accurate and deadly shots.
His pace is the reason for his lack of opportunities in the SE. He’s not fast or mobile enough.
It’s the same problem Onuachu has. If Nwakaeme had pace, he would be getting invited more frequently.

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Pompei… Your comment here is characteristic of a typical Nigerian. So pace is Nwakaeme’s problem? What we need is players who can impact a match with their body of game. I don’t see Trabzonspor who are in pole position to win their league complaining about Nwaekeme… the fact that their is no serious reason why he inst been considered is the reason why folks would have to come up with flimsy excuse as a justification. Dennis who appears to be a darling of everyone now was insulted by the likes of you, @Ayphillydegreat and @Dr.Drey for being stubborn… It’s a surprise how Watford hasn’t complained of his stubbornness yet. Even Awoniyi whom you wrote up there as having pace was insulted for being below par in the just concluded AFCON… Olayinka too was insulted and also Sadiq. Nigerians only react to momentary emotions when a situation does not favour them… If you @Pomoei is asked who is Nigeria’s best player in Turkey who would you mention? I guess you will go Aminu Umar!!! Lol… Someone of you just wish Anthony Nwaekeme should disappear because dude is rubbishing his exclusion from Super Eagles with his match winning displays… He has been doing it for 5years. A solid and mature player!

  • pompei 2 years ago

We all love Okoye and wish him progress. But the thought of Okoye manning the post against Ghana is enough to raise blood pressure.
If he somehow improves, then no problem. But he must improve, especially when it comes to positioning in goal. He has the athletic build, but he’s not using it enough to his advantage.
Ghana fans are joking among themselves, hoping we play Okoye against them. They are saying all they need is just to keep their shots on frame. With Okoye in goal, they are confident of getting goals. Their worry is how to keep our attack at bay.
Okoye should please improve. If he can’t, then we need reliable hands to tend our goal in the Ghana game and beyond.

    • JimmyBall 2 years ago

…hahahahaha. Pompei… You are honest here walahi. Some people say Okoye is a premier league goalkeeper already na… Why are we scared or him manning the post again against Ghana? I thought the goal he Conceded against Tunisia can beat any goalkeeper in the world? Ghanaians are on this same CSN forum reading out comments… Make God punish Nigeria to play Okoye for Accra… Ghana that will go every length to employ any winning tactics including using Juju scare… Okoye does not have the mentality for such warlike game with strong historical rivalry…

    • Dr Banks 2 years ago

Okoye might not be excellent yet or a finished product but at the moment he still remained our best choice in goal

  • Pompei Believe it or not okoye is our number one Keeper, for now we don’t have better than okoye the Guy is still young and will come good with time. Uzoho is far from réalité, Akpeyi is a no go area so we have to encorage okoye and pray that God .will him to performe Well in this Ghana match

  • OmoEsan 2 years ago

Some people here have made their hatred for Captain Ahmed Musa obvious, but unfortunately for them, it’s a situation they will continue to deal with, at least for now.

Stephen Keshi as team captain played a bench role at Tunisia & USA ’94 respectively and heaven did not fall.

An unfit and match rusty Dan Amokachi made the team list to Ghana Nigeria 2000 AFCON and no one blinked an eyelid.

Jay Kay Okocha captained SE from the bench at Egypt 2006 AFCON, barely kicking a ball in the tournament, yet we were all cool with it.

Kanu Nwankwo captained SE from the bench at South Africa 2010, only making the starting eleven in our last match against South-Korea, yet we loved him like that. Thinking of it that Kanu retired from professional football (club and country) after that match……..

Joseph Yobo captained SE to AFCON victory in 2013 from the bench. Same Yobo was obviously going to play a bench role at Brazil 2014 World Cup, but for that unfortunate injury to Godfrey Oboabona in our first match against Iran, yet we loved our dear Yobo like that. Thinking of the role Yobo played in the goals we conceded against France in the 2nd round and the fact that like Papilo, Yobo also retired from professional football (club and country) after that match,………

Mikel Obi captained SE to 2019 AFCON at a time he played his professional football in China, at a period he wasn’t in the best of form and made little impact (on the field), yet he was a starter in the first few matches of AFCON 2019, ahead of an in-form English Premiership regular Alex Iwobi. We loved Mikel like that and heaven did not fall.

Come-in Ahmed Musa as SE’s captain and some people are hating him for reasons best known to them.

From breaking a 19yr old top scorer’s jinx in the NPFL to winning the AFCON and from being Nigeria’s highest goal scorer of all time at the FIFA World Cup to becoming the highest capped Super Eagle of all time, Musa is a proven legend in his own right and we must treat him as such, most especially during his reign as the captain of the team. Moreover he’s still physically fit, match fit and still delivering the goods so why hate him.

Nwakaeme is in the form of his life and we rejoice with him, but if he must break into SE, I’m afraid not at the expense of the team captain’s slot like some people wish. Nwakaeme should compete with other strikers or wingers for his place and we wish him well on that regard.

For those hating our Ahmed Musa , we’re saying it loud and clear to their hearing, if SE qualifies for World Cup, our dear Captain Ahmed Musa is leading the team to Qatar regardless of whose ox is gored and we don’t care if he captains from the bench like his predecessors did. After Qatar 2022 he will take his bow honourably, so all haters should deal with that.

    Ride on our wonderful Cappooooo!

Jimbo, you just accused me falsely.
I was one of the few guys here who stood by Dennis when he was criticized. I argued that he did not turn his back on Nigeria, but was pressured by Watford.
Get your facts right, Jimmy Boy.
    Now, back to Nwakaeme.
I repeat: I like Nwakaeme. If it was up to me, he would be in the SE.
I’m trying to give reasons why he’s not being considered. If you look at all the SE strikers, they have certain characteristics. One of them is pace. Nwakaeme has pace, but he’s not as fast as most of these other guys. But he does have superior finishing, in my opinion.
Nwakaeme plays on the left wing for Trabzonspor. I would rather use him as a striker for SE.
I think Eguavoen and Amuneke need to take a long, hard look at Nwakaeme. If a player of his quality and ability is being excluded from the national team, there had better be very good reasons!
