Nigeria’s Kamaru Usman ended his losing run after claiming a unanimous decision win against Joachin Buckley, in their Ultimate Fight Championship (UFC) welterweight clash, inside the State Farm Atena, Atlanta, USA, in the early hours of Sunday.
After the end of the fifth and final round in the non-title fight, Usman emerged victorious with a scorecard of 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47.
Former UCF welterweight champions, Usman, went into the contest on the back of three straight defeats.

The last time he tasted victory was in November, 2021, when he defended the welterweight title with a unanimous decision win over Colby Covington.
But after a two-year layoff, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ was back in the Octagon and put up a dominant performance against Buckley to return to winning ways.
Usman ducked under a punch to score a takedown early in round one.
Once he had control, the 170lb great maintained position and peppered away with ground strikes to leave Buckley sporting a cut on his eye at the end of the first frame.
Buckley managed to land some strikes and avoid Usman for the first half of round two, but he was eventually taken down and dominated on the floor again.
It was a similar story in round three. After two minutes, Buckley landed his biggest shot of the fight, which prompted Usman to take him down to the ground again.
Once he was there Buckley didn’t look capable of getting back to his feet.
Round four was predictable. Once again, Buckley winged big punches for the first half before getting taken down and mauled on the mat towards the end of the round.
Amazingly, Buckley managed to fend off five takedown attempts in the final frame.
Usman survived some scary moments to make it the full 25 minutes in his comeback fight.

He literally won all 5 rounds. What a dominant performance.
That’s a very big lie!
Did you even watch the fight??
You could not possibly have and be saying what you just said – maybe you are just trying to form that you did, which is very poor behaviour, telling lies for clout? And even then doing it poorly where you can be easily found out like I just did.
Anyone who watched the fight would have seen that Usman won 4 of the 5 rounds, with his renowned wrestling skills but came very very close to being knocked out by the much younger and sharper sniper Buckley in the 5th. Kamaru gave the kid a lot of props after the fight saying that he is a special fighter and a problem, ad that he had to use his experience to come through – So @Chima E Samuels, you can stop the lies!
Unbelievable!!
