Super Eagles forward Moses has said he and his teammates expected a difficult encounter with Jamaica in the Unity Cup 2025 final on Saturday.
The Super Eagles edged out Jamaica 5-4 on penalties after 90 minutes ended 2-2, to retain their title.
Simon, who captained the Super Eagles, opened the scoring just nine minutes into the game off an assist from Cyriel Dessers.
The Nantes star also converted his spot kick as coach Eric Chelle’s men scored all their five attempts.
Samuel Chukwueze was also on the score sheet as he put the Eagles 2-1 ahead

Commenting after lifting the trophy, Simon said:”We expected a tough game because they are a difficult side, they are very physical so the coach told us to be calm and we had a good result against them.”
He added:”Everyone is excited, everyone is glad of course it’s the first trophy with the new manager and I will say every trophy is a trophy and we cherish it and we will keep going.”
Up next for the Super Eagles is next month’s international friendly game with Russia.

All the three goals conceded by the Eagles are crosses from the right flank. Sodiq is the major culprit. He should learn to stay on his feet and avoid some of his dangerous tackles that earns him needless yellow cards He needs to move to Europe to fine turn his game. He’s a good player no doubt, he needs to adapt quickly to the modern demands of his duty. He’s still raw and too physical.
Congratulations to our dear Super Eagles. Congratulations to Sekou Chelle!
All victory nah victory brother.
Yes, before l forget, the new players like Igoh Ogbu, Felix Agu, Benjamin Fredrick’s and Chrisantis Uche impressed me a lot at the Unity cup and l say thank you to our dear coach though, l would have loved to see Isaac Saviour play in that last game. I believe he is one of the hottest commodities in the npfl right now and by far, the best midfielder.
I just think Saviour deserves a place in the midfield of our present Super Eagles if given the right opportunity. He is such a good player; fast, strong, focused, athletic and very skillful with good passes and would only keep on improving.
Let’s give him his deserved chance after all, everyone could see the impact of young players in the present Ghana national team in the just concluded tourney.
Please, l am not advocating for a wholesale change but the infusion of the very best young players in the problematic departments of our team as it iis evident in our attacking/ creative midfield.
The time is now, let’s fix the team once and for all.
Thanks.
Well said!
