Waldrum: Super Falcons Ready To Conquer Africa Again

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum says the team is battle ready for a successful title defence at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, reports Completesports.com.

The Super Falcons are pitted in Group C along with title rivals, South Africa and debutants Burundi and Botswana.

Waldrum’s charges test their preparedness for the competition with two friendlies against Nigeria league champions, Bayeslsa Queeens and Naija Ratels in Abuja on Thursday.

“We have a little bit of work to do and picking numbers right away on the scale of 10 , we are seven or eight,”Waldrum told reporters.

“The matches we played enable us to evaluate the level of readiness of the team for the championship.

“These two games played today gave us a way to evaluate areas of concentration on the team.

“We are always in a pressure, we understand the pressure they come with and I also understand their responsibility to the whole country.

“Supporting the team is to win it for the tenth time.We have to cope and manage thier pressure.”

The nine-time champions will face the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in their opening game at the Prince Heritier Moulay Hassan Stadium, Rabat on July 4.

While I agree that the Falcons should go for the 10th, I believe strongly that Randy must look beyond just the African scene. After all, local Coaches have won the WAFCON in the past.
He must challenge at World level to prove is mettle.
