Why I Opted For Bonke As Ndidi’s Replacement- Eguavoen

Super Eagles interim technical adviser Augustine Eguavoen has revealed the reason behind his descion to extend invitation to Innocent Bonke as replacement for the injured Wilfred Ndidi, reports Completesports.com.

Ndidi was ruled out of Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs against the Black Stars of Ghana after picking up a knee injury in Leicester City’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Stade Rennes last week.

Bonke, who was not originally included in the standby list was named as his replacement instead of Ogenyi Onazi.

Eguavoen has now defended his choice and stated the Lorient of France midfielder is a suitable replacement for Ndidi.

” I picked Bonke outside the players on standby because Ndidi is a defensive midfielder and there is defensive midfielder in the standby list. Bonke has been a player in my heart. So it was a like for like substitute,”the 56-year-old told a press conference on Wednesday.

“Noble is another player that has been criticized by the media. But the young man is not injured as reported and he has featured in Enyimba’s last four games. I picked him based his last four games after my colleague Finidi George recommended him highly. He is not injured. He was actually subbed in their last game against Wikki Tourist FC and medically he was cleared that is why he is with us” Eguavoen who doubles as NFF technical director concluded.

  • When I told you people that Eguavoen was Only exposing the imposing players and interference by NFF/Government corrupt officials by announcing he included Onazi to appease them you thought I was joking, that is something Rohr could never do and did not have the balls to do. I said a few months back God revealed to me that Eguavoen will make Nigerians proud in World Cup I was not joking. This Nigeria squad with the inclusion of Ndidi can stand toe to toe with any team in World football with a little touch up with my man Victor Moses, I am sure some off my Nigerian brothers are wishing now that Victor Moses was actually in these two games, not to worry He will be back once we dismantle Ghana So will Michael Olsie. It has been written. Nigeria will be the first team to reach World Cup Semi Finals from Africa and maybe go beyond semi’s In 2022 mark it somewhere.

P.S please No Ghanaians should reply to this thread. the only Ghanaian permitted to respond is @MONKEY POST lol!!

    • No. The Monkey is not a Ghanaian ooo.

Eguavon stop talking. The more you talk the more you expose yourself.

I am surprised a player on your heart is not qualified to be on the standby list. Onazi that is not in your heart is there.

Now that ndidi got injured you had show your weakness by leaving out those on standby list for a oley you did not deem fit to be there.

Nigerians will not change. So sad.

I pray God help us to qualify. That’s the only thing I can n say.

Ghana will play 4 5 1 on Friday they will control the midfield and still have more men on our wingers, how would Eguaveon counter Ghana 4 5 1. Would Eguaveon adopt ineffective 4 2 4 again, or play 4.3 4. Would Eguaveon starts iheanacho and Aribo same time. Guys we need ur inputs

My Starting 11 which may just be official very soon.
    4-3-3
    Uzoho,
    Aina/Shehu, Balogun, Bassey, Sanusi
    Bonke, Aribo, Onyeka
    Chukwueze, Osimhen, Simon

Then Dennis can replace Chukwueze in the second half while lookman if fit can replace Simon also.

    OR
    4-4-2
    Uzoho,
    Aina/Shehu, Balogun, Bassey, Sanusi
    Bonke,Aribo,Moses,Chukwueze
    Igalo, Victor

Dennis can replace Chukwueze in 2nd half, while Sadiq or Kelechi replaces Ighalo

Note Ekong, Aina and Etebo have not been playing this year in thier clubs so may not be very sharp.

    Play a 4132
    Aina Ekong BALOGUN Bassey
    Bonke
(Aribo or Amoo) Etebo (looking or Moses)
    Denise Sadiq.

OSIMENEGOALS n Nacho will come in second half when the Ghanians starts getting tired n losing shape. Osimene coming second half is only tactical as I am 100% sure the Ghanian strategy will be built on frustrating him but then they will be too tired or disillusioned to effectively do that in the second half.

And also THE KEY TO US BEATING GHANA RIGHT THERE IN GHANA IS N I REPEAT, IS TO ALWAYS BE REALLY QUICK TO WIN EVERY LOOSE SECOND BALLS AS WELL AS CLOSING UP SPACES.

GOD BLESS ALEXANDER THE KING IWOBI, GOD BLESS ALL DESERVING SE PLAYERS, GOD BLESS CEREZO AND CREW, GOD BLESS NIGERIA AND MAY LOOKME SEE BOMB ADEMOLA, EXPLODE INSIDE GHANA GOAL AREA TO SHATTER THE BLACK STARS INTO SEVERAL UNRECOGNISABLE SEGMENTS.

    • @Glory Osimhen being double Teamed will work in Nigeria’s favour for 2 very good reasons

      1. It will give other lethal attackers space to punish Ghana
      2. If Osimhen can out Maneuver that Double teaming then We have a situation where Ghana will not have room to breathe.

Osimhen should start for me. Amartey and co are not good enough to stop him and if they try it will free up space for the likes of Chukwueze, Simon Dennis, Lookman and co to exploit. Plus another added advantage will be the Ghanain defence will be too tired in the secon Half from that attention to Osimhenbecause he will run them rugged that which ever of our super subs (as we have many) who comes in the second half will be able to capitalise on thier fatigue I am sure that is what will happen. Also if you watch Osimhen he comes good in second half after having the first half to warm up and acclimatize to the game

      • Glory 2 years ago

@ Ugo, yes OSIMENEGOALS has the strength not a pinch of doubt, but I am looking at maximising that strength especially in this case where we have other big big trouble for Ghana; players like Sadiq, Lookman, Denise, Moses etc..

      to me

      I will try 343

      Balogun Ekong Semi A

      M.Simon Bonke Oyenka Zaidu

      Aribo(free role)

      Ademola/Chukwueze Victor Dennis

with this formation we have two good DM’S Aribo should be given a free role as he can help in the attack and draw back with Simon and Zaidu as wing back also makes us have an edge defensively and attacking then we have the three forwards who will be a force don’t need to over work them two can draw to the midfield a little but they will be there to put pressure on the opponents defense

Complete Sports I read this news on other websites it’s only who You didn’t name the other players Eguavoen said he will give look in at subsequent matches so that Nigerians will know them. Complete Sports you are good at hiding some great talents. Continue the propaganda way of life.

  • TALK UR OWN 2 years ago

THE REAL REASON WHY YOU OPTED FOR BONNKE IS DUE TO PRESSURE AND CRITICISM PEOPLE MOUNTED ON YOU CONCERNING ONAZI.
** THE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH YOU LOCAL COACHES IS SENTIMENTAL IN PLAYERS SELECTIONS AND MOST OF YOU CANNOT STAND ON YOUR TOES WHEN PRESSURE COMES.
