Woolford Questions Giants Mentality

Huddersfield Giants coach Simon Woolford says his side are lacking desire and belief after Sunday’s heavy defeat to Hull FC.

The Giants went down 28-8 at home to Hull FC on Sunday and threw away a two-point first half lead as they were kept scoreless after the restart.

Huddersfield are bottom of the Super League with four defeats in as many games so far, and Woolford doesn’t feels their struggles are due to any lack of ability.

“The issues we’ve got at the moment are not a talent thing,” he told the Examiner. “It’s an effort thing, a concentration thing and a mental thing.

“We have stages of the game where we totally lose our way. We make an error and then we make another one. We concede a try, then we concede another try then it’s like well, the game is gone.

“We don’t have any resilience at the moment, none. Zero. No resilience at all. “This is a tough game; rugby league is a tough game.

You’re going to be under the pump at certain stages every week, no matter who you are playing, and you’ve got to be able to pull through them.

“You’ve got to be able to roll your sleeves up and work through adversity and at the moment, we don’t have that.”
