Siewert ‘s Olive Branch To Puncheon

Jan Siewert has offered an olive branch to Jason Puncheon after axing him from Huddersfield’s last two matches amid a reported bust-up. The on-loan Crystal Palace loan player was substituted by Siewert at Newcastle following Tommy Smith’s red card and then wasn’t picked at all for the Terriers’ home win over Wolves.

The 32-year-old did not travel with the Town squad to Brighton last weekend as reports claimed there had been a fall-out between Puncheon and the boss after the Newcastle game.

Speaking after Saturday’s defeat in the south coast, Siewert would not comment directly on reports that he and Puncheon had a disagreement over selection. “We had 18 players in the squad and I am just allowed to have 18 players, so I made my decision and I am paid for making decisions,” said Siewert. “Today I am just angry about losing a game with one free kick. “I can tell you something, I don’t comment on any rumours. “What I can say is I’m paid for making decisions and I am paid for choosing my squad. “Tomorrow, I have to work and continue my work with my team. We deserved something today.

And we got nothing because of one free kick. “We were not switched on, and this is the important thing.” And when asked directly if Puncheon was still part of his squad, he replied: “Yes, he is part of my squad, but I have to do decisions, and I will do the decisions in my way.”
