1st Remmy Uche Soccer Challenge Cup Enters Q-Finals, Sole Sponsor Pledges Goodies

The first edition of Remmy Uche Soccer Challenge Cup in Anambra State has reached the quarter-finals stage following thrilling performances by grassroots football sides who paraded exciting talents in the group phase of the competition, Completesports.com reports.

The Remmy Uche Soccer Challenge Cup is being sponsored by an astute businessman – a Real Estate giant, Chief Remigius Uchenna Anyadike (Akuchukwu of Umudioka), the Chairman/CEO of Remmy Surveyor Estate. He is also involved in entertainment industry.

The Main Organising Committee of Remmy Uche Soccer Challenge Cup 2021 is made up of select veteran grassroots football administrators, namely; Austine Kelechi Nwankwo, (Chairman), Ezekute Daniel (Secretary), Ebuka Aghaobi (member), Chidi Okonbo (member)
and Chekwube Onunkwo (member).

The 16-team tournament started on the 30th October, 2021 with round robin format after the participating teams were drawn into four groups comprising four grassroots sides each.

The winners and first runners-up of each group have advanced to
the knockout stage which quarter-finals will start on Saturday November 20 2021. And the eight quarter-finalists for the 2021 Remmy Uche Soccer Challenge Cup are; Global FC, United Youths FC,
Akuchukwu FC, Ochomma FC, De Godz FC, Remmy Uche FC, Jimbaz FC and New Morning FC. The final of the competition comes up on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

The Cup donor and sponsor, Chief Anyadike presented jerseys to the quarter-finalists in his office on Friday, November 19 2021.

According to the Main Organising Committee, the champions of the tournament will be rewarded with 1.5million naira prize money, while the first runners-up and second runners-up will bag One million naira and 500,000 naira respectively. The fourth placed team will get a consolation prize money of 100,000 naira.

There will also be prizes to be won by some deserving individual players and a Fair-play award courtesy of the donor, Chief Anyadike. They include; Most valuable player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, Highest goal scorer and the Best Behaved Team (Fair play award).

The sponsor, Chief Anyadike promised to make the prestigious Remmy Uche Soccer Challenge Cup an annual competition.

“I am doing this because of the love I have for football, I promise to take Anambra football to another level. By God’s grace it will be an annual tournament,” Chief Anyadike (Akuchukwu Umudioka) stated.
