2022 RemmyUche Soccer Challenge Cup Hots Up With Round Of 16 Clashes 

The 2022 RemmyUche Soccer Challenge Cup currently going on in Onitsha, Anambra State saw Its group stages completed on Thursday, September 22nd September 2022 and it gets more exciting for the fans with the Round of 16 fixtures.

Sixteen (16) outstanding teams have made it to the Round of 16 which originally would have started on Saturday the 16th. September, but has to be pushed a week further for the teams to have enough rest and to avoid the rains which affected some matches played so far.

The Secretary of the Organising Committee, Ezekute Daniel (DanOmega) assured the participating teams of continued fairness and justice from both the match officials and the Organising Committee, especially now that the competition has entered the crucial knockout stages.

“RemmyUche Soccer Challenge Cup is a very competitive grassroots football showpiece in Anambra State and we will continue striving to ensure that it retains this good reputation by way of fair play for all the teams,” DanOmega stated.

“We engaged tested match officials for this competition, and members of the Organising Committee work relentlessly to stage an enjoyable competition for football-loving Anambrarians. That’s what the sponsor Chief Remigius Uchenna Anyadike stands for.” 

While speaking to the press, the Organising Committee chairman, Austin Kelechi said that the competition has lived up to its pre-tournament billing because enough talents have been discovered.

“Anambra State is blessed with a lot of raw football talents. They are everywhere in different parts of the State and they need a platform to showcase that God-given talent – and that is the platform this RemmyUche Soccer Challenge Cup has given the people of Anambra State. Great talents are being discovered through this competition, and it keeps getting better,” Kelechi remarked.

The donor, Chief/Surveyor Remigius Uchenna Anyadike (Akuchukwu 1 of Umudioka) promised to help the budding talents that the tournament produced to secure clubs both at home and overseas and has put machinery in motion for the purpose. 

Chief Anyadike said this during his press briefing in Onitsha, while inviting the football house in Anambra State and beyond to Ịwa Ji Dunukofia of his Master/Mentor, Most  High Chief Vincent Chiekezie Udobi (Ike Dunukofia Ancient Kingdom and Onwa Ifitedunu) on Sunday 25th. September 2020 @ the latter’s palatial home in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia LGA, Anambra State.

A total of 87 goals were scored in the just concluded group matches of the 2022 RemmyUche Soccer Challenge Cup with Igwe Ikenna of Jimbaz FC (the defending champion) topping the scorers’ chart with 3 goals from three matches.

Players with two goals to their names so far are; Chiadikaobi Uzoagbala of De Godz FC; Ekebo Chibueze of Ado Babes FC (the Talent Factory); Victor Osuagwu of Ozalla FA; Afeez Owolabi of St. Selected FC; Onyeka Ciba of Akwa FC;  Nwabubike Emeka of St Charles Selected FC and Tochukwu Dave of Ochomma FC.
