2022 WCQ : Enyimba’s Noble Replaces Uzoho In Nigeria Squad for Liberia, Cape Verde Games

2022 WCQ : Enyimba’s Noble Replaces Uzoho In Nigeria Squad for Liberia, Cape Verde Games

Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble has been announced as Francis Uzoho’s replacement in Super Eagles’ squad for this month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde, Completesports.com reports.

The Nigeria Football Federation made the announcement on Sunday night.

Uzoho featured in his Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia’s UEFA Conference League encounter against Swiss club Basel on Thursday night, but missed Sunday’s league clash against Ethnikos Achnas due to illness.

”Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble has been called up to replace Francis Uzoho who has been reported sick. Get well Frank,”reads a statement on the Super Eagles facebook page.

Noble was first invited to the Super Eagles in March for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.

He is however yet to make an appearance for the three-time African champions.

Maduka Okoye and Daniel Akpeyi are the other goalkeepers in the squad for the qualifiers.

The Super Eagles will face the Lone Star in Tangier, Morocco on Saturday and then host the Blue Sharks in their final grouo game in the qualifiers next week Tuesday.

  • It’s amazing how a reserve keeper for Enyimba gets called up to the Super Eagles ahead of the goalkeeper preferred for their CAF Confederations Cup games, Olorunleke Ojo. John Noble has not seen competitive action since August 2021 at the latest, that means he has been inactive for two whole months. This puts to bed the claim for the Super eagles that players have to be active to get a call up to the Super Eagles. This is the familiar excuse given to justify why players like Ademola Lookman (owngoal) are constantly overlooked.

In a situation where the Nigeria U17 2017 goalkeeper currently in the Israeli premier league, Adebayo Adeleye is doing very well, 4 clean sheets in 7 games in his debut season in the top flight, other keepers who have been called up in the past and not used are overlooked (Yakubu Mathew, Joshua Oluwayemi, Sebastian Osigwe to mention a few), it is very interesting that the scouting at home is defective.

One would have thought that the 3 assistants charged with casting their eye over local players: Alloy Agu, Joseph Yobo and Salisu Yusuf, actually make an effort to watch games or keep in touch with coaches especially of clubs in CAF competitions, they have in not keeping tabs on players, thrown merit into the dustbin and gone with the lazy option of auto redial of players previously called up regardless of whether they are actually playing or not.

The Super eagles have with this call up gone the way of typical Nigerian method of anyhowness

    • Nigeria has been jinxed by corruption. If you don’t sign up for NFF to manage you then count yourself done. It is only in Nigeria that we hear this o.

      • My brother this has nothing to do with NFF, Alloy Agu is the one who is the goal keepers coach and it is obvious that he has the ears of G. Rohr because since Enyeama all he has been doing is to make sure an Igbo keeper mans our post. Don’t get me wrong, Igbos are Nigerians and they have the right to play in any position in the Super Eagles for Nigeria but the goal keeping department in the Eagles have been corrupted by Alloy Agu. I wonder what the Technical department of the NFF is doing, this guy is no where near the list of our best goal keepers of yesteryears and it baffles me how he became our goal keeper’s trainer ahead of somebody like Peter Rufai

    • For me, Alloy Agu has been fantastically sub par. It’s still a mystery how he’s holding down a job with little or no result – can’t scout or groom decent goalkeepers for 5 years.

Check out Senegal and Cameroun, they’ll have no worries in that department in the AFCON. It’s so sorted, which will boost their trophy-winning chances For long, Ezenwa questionably held sway, even when he was inactive or second choice at Enyimba. It seems Agu has now automatically transferred that slot to Noble, when there are obviously better replacement choices here and abroad.

It’s all about match bonuses – whether the goalkeeper plays or not. Another form of corruption. I’m sure Pinnick/NFF appoints all these political candidates and impose them on Rohr – who has no choice but to work with them. Otherwise, I doubt Rohr would have selected to work with people like Agu and Yobo in the first instance.

Owngoal exposing Rohr and Pinnick. Complete Sports you are loosing credibility if you don’t start promoting truth. How can a goalkeeper on reserve inactive for 4months be called over first choice and Israeli based keeper with four clean sheets? My Goodness this day light robbery is becoming too alarming to bear. EFFC get to work we can not continue like this. Even Finidi didn’t make the mistake of using Noble talkless of national team.

    • Mahmud Shuaib 2 years ago

Funny enough, all Rohr apologists, like dogs with their tales between their legs are anywhere to be found.

A situation where Abdullah Shehu in a lowly Cypriot league will be considered at the detriment of Alhassan or Onyedika (check that young man out in Denmark), where Ighalo playing jeun jeun Sunday Sunday football will be considered ahead of Awoniyi or Dessers,…Something is really really wrong somewhere.

Rohr to hit home the bitter truth is Niger, Chad, CAR, Gabon level and not Nigeria!

Little wonder he was at Etoile de Sahel in Tunisia and the National team never saw anything good in him.

And at 64 or so, I shudder to think what tactical or technical improvement he brings to the table.

Corruption is to blame for this conundrum.

The other day he was crying over Musiala but is blind to Amoo

Doesnt trust young or new players but cries when other countries poach young players.

He was talking TOP 5 until Germany with all their array of stars in the Bundesliga (Top 3) went to Austria (a top 20)’league to cap an Adeyemi.

@Mahmud Shuaib… the last I know of Coach Rohr’s age is 67yrs! He is 68yrs now almost Buhari and Obasanjo mate… a completely spineless old senile fraud using the head of over 200million tightly-sensible Nigeria through his football agency proxies… the way we will be humiliated at the next nations cup ehn… they will use one old Datsun Pickup take railroad through sand dunes and sahara back to France… No wonder Joseph Dosu called him a Mechanic… hahaha. People like Olofinjana are just being economical with the truth and dont want to openly blast the man for his ineptitude…

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

I also read that he is playing Idowu on standby for rumored injured Collins ahead of Bassey. This coach is good at choosing average players over technical ones. The coach has a major problem with good players no wonder we are yet to see Anthony Izuchukwu again, there can only be one thing because only bad players can grease palms. If you know you know!

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

        *placing

      • You guys still don’t get it…Rohr is Pinnick’s puppet. He thinks once he suits Pinnick, his employment is insured.

This is a coach who has absolutely NOTHING to offer; otherwise, he won’t be dancing to Pinnick’s tunes.

He knows he’s past it so he’s serving his pay masters instead of serving the nation.

This is why I will never attribute any of the team’s victories to him alone.

As a professional coach, your relationship with the FA should be based only on the contractual agreement signed.

But what do we have here?

A coach who started out well but lost steam along the line due to self doubt and fear.

“We lost because we missed Iwobi and Ndidi…”

        What a shame!

  • Mahmud Shuaib 2 years ago

Its only an NFA (no future ambition) coach who will invite an active goalkeeper to the National team at the expense of the man benching him at the same club. Who does that?

Even Akpeyi in South Africa is NOT as good as Adeleye. OLORUNLEKE OJO was first choice in Rangers (I hope am right) and came straight to Enyimba and dislodged Noble who was injured towards the end of last season. How do you now invite a goalie who hasnt kept goal in anger for over 3 months from the same league and club where his counterpart has been keeping regularly???

England never went after Vardy (who plays for a top 8’club in a rop 5 league o) when Kane struggled for goals at the Euros

Sweden didnt turn to Zlatan (who plays for a top 6 club in a top 5 league) when Berg and Poulsen struggled for goals

Italy kept faith with Immobile even when Fabio Quagralia was firing in all cylinders

It is only Nigeria that will DIE if Ighalo who plays in a top 40 league is not invited.

    What a shame!

Why not bring back Mikel from Kuwait (before he was left) since our midfielders are struggling to defend or create goals?

Instead of the clueless coach to start catching them young and cap-tying players like Solanke (top 3 leading scorer in the English championship), Dele Bashiru, Ugochukwu (Rennes), before European power houses swoop; he’s busy going to bring back retired and expired players!

I smile , from retirement league in Saudi, to an inactive reserved goalkeeper in Nigerian league !!

If Nigeria did not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria

I wonder where are the Oga Rohr’s supporters Dr Drey & co ? Thank God , Oga Rohr’s contract was renewed just as PMB was elected to expose his deficiencies minds ; we would have thought, this corrupted invitation can never happened with Foreign Technical adviser

@ Mammud Shuaibu ; please don’t insult those countries again , particularly the tinny Niger and Gabon having evaluated Oga Rohr , they did not need anyone to tell them that , at best Oga Rohr can only be a Team Manager , not Technical adviser as he was summarily sacked on his fist evaluation, as not measured up to their standard ; but here in Nigeria, everything goes with corruption.

      Hahahahhahaahhahaahahhahha….well said.

It’s a monumental shame that a coach sacked by Niger, Gabon, Etoile du Sahel is coaching a country of over 200m people blessed with money to attract the best if not for corruption in high places.

Imagine an Enland or Spain or Germany or Brazil or Italy or France or Argentina going to sign a coach sacked by Bolivia, Iceland, Cyprus, Estonia, Ecuador etc?

      Shame shame shame

      • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

At least he was coaching somewhere before he was hired by Nigeria…..pls where were your guadiolas who couldnt qualify for ordinary AFCON…ordinary AFCON coaching ……LMAOOooo.

Maybe Westerhoff had/was coaching German national team before he was appointed….LMAOooo or Bonfrere Jo coaching the Dutch national team

Imagine somebody’s child comparing Nigeria to Enland or Spain or Germany or Brazil or Italy or France or Argentina…..LMAOooo. Continue living in dreamland….LMAOooo.

Even the $45,000 you are paying a former Niger and Gabon coach, you cant pay him for 8 solid months….LMAOOoo

Continue you dream ehn…..LMAOoooo……If you ever get a coach who has coached any of Bolivia, Iceland, Cyprus, Estonia, Ecuador or the calibre of Gabon to come coach Nigeria after Rohr leaves, then I’ll stop being a Nigerian……LMAOoooooo. I promise you

      • Na waoh. Me too l wonder why he should be inviting Noble in d first instance. Wot happened to Sabastine Osigwe of Lugano in Switzerland?
Ok; l he also put Brian ldowu”s name in the standbye list where Calvin Bassey is very much around nd in great form. He would repeat the same old mistake like he did with the invitation of Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace nd not cap-tieing him nd now the guy has completely turned his back on Nigeria.
Actually, the old man has enof free hands to choose his players bg is well limited by his old mentality nd traits of being too economic nd not ready to take risks nd try fresh legs and tactics. Indeed,we are in big trouble with him as our coach really.
Finally,it is not out of place to keep updating him of the emergence of quality young players like: Lefsley Ugochukwu, Calvin Bassey Ugheleumba, Frank Onyedika, Ovie Ejaria, Ifeanyi Nwobodo to name a few,for Rhor to atleast do the needful.
With all due respect, ghalo Akpeyi nd their likes have reached their twilights and has nothing much to offer us again.
God bless Nigeria ND the Super Eagles.

Hahahahahaha….have you forgotten you were the ring leader of the group who were rejoicing that NFF “has shackled and humbled” rohr with the 4/5 = 90% contract that ceded absolute selection powers from the coach to the NFF……LMAOoooooo. Or have you forgotten you were the ones that “recommended” those clauses in the contract that gave power of selection of SE players to the NFF…????

Why are you crying now…??? Are you now trying to run away from your own disaster, from the corruption you and your group of regressives initiated and instituted…??? LMAOOooo. Have y’all seen how everything has turned upside down ever since…??? Karma indeed is a bitch….LMAOOoooo

The chicken has finally come home to roost…..LMAOooo

God don dey catch una one by one….LMAOooo

The last time I checked, Gabon’s HGIHEST EVER placing at AFCON (5th position) was under Rohr. The last time I also checked, Niger has not qualified for another AFCON since Rohr qualified them for their last AFCON in 2013 AND THE ONLY POINT THEY HAVE TO THEIR NAME AT AN AFCON remains the one they earned under Rohr…..LMAOOooo….so both teams punched FAR ABOVE THEIR WEIGHTS under Rohr’s management as against your lies up there that he “did not measure up to their standard”….LMAOOooo.

Go and get your facts right, he was NEVER sacked in neither Gabon or Niger…….LMAOOoooo

Correct Onyinbo no the take nonsense but Rohr the act like who be homeless… Germans call am OBDACLOSE for Europe… hahahaha!

        • Dennis 2 years ago

I want to ask you some questions. Have Nigeria made progress since appointing Rorh? Hat position were the super eagles ranked before he took charge and what is our current position. Has he failed to qualify us for any tournament, baring in mind we missed two consecutive nations cup? Do we still witness players fighting in camp as we did before? Do players report late to camp as we witnessed in previous eras?
Rorh gets owed salaries but still tries to deliver. If Rohr goes, who do we sign? Wenger? Gattuso? Joachim Lowe? Can you owe these guys their salaries? Would players be imposed on these coaches? Would an assistant coach like yobo be imposed into the team despite having no coaching credentials?
Rorh isn’t perfect but I’m sure he isn’t getting a free hand to choose the players he wants. However, he makes do with what comes his way. You all want us to go back to the era of getting a local coach who would collect bribe and take clubless players to tournaments. You all remember Reuben Gabriel that had no club and went to the world cup

Dont you have A4 papers to type sack letters anymore……LMAOOooo… Why will Rohr resign when he is on the brink of leading the team he built to the AFCON and qualifying for the world cup, both for the 2nd consecutive time with games to spare….? If Rohr has failed who is holding the hands ye herd of hungry vultures from sacking him….LMAOooooo

Rohr is beating you and your hungry lords to their game, he wouldn’t give any of you the pleasure of resigning….LMAOooo…that’s why you are all dying of frustration…….LMAOooo. You have all FAILED to get him off that seat and will continue to FAIL till we walks away. Only One Oyinbo man taking on the whole cabal of corrupt-agents-controlled football fraternity…..LMAOooooo

I can see your frustration from miles away seeing all your machinations being put asunder by a smart old man…..LMAOoooo. Anytime your lies and fallacies have been shreaded, you come crying like a wacky-tacky, hunger-stricken, winter-battered wild-dog barking at thin air and throwing irrelevancies up and down…..LMAOOooo.

Its never too late to jump at a moving train if it is paining you that Dr. Drey is licking Rohr’s balls. We all know what people like you licked for decades in order to be able to live in the same onyibo man’s land.

I love Dr Banks epic reply to you last night……LMAOooooo…I loved it so much I bookmarked that page. What a rush…..LMAOooo….!!!! Knocked the arrogant junkie out stonecold with 1 paragraph of absolute reality……LMAoooooo

There is nothing to debate about Roar’s contract. It is clearly stated in the contract “Win AFCON and get your contract renewed anything less YOU ARE FIRED” Roar took a gamble on himself and signed the contract…
AFCON is just few months away and there is no need to start looking for excuses…
There will be no need for the time is TOO CLOSE to the final W”Cup qualifier or the main event (2022 W’Cup is holding in Nov).
Roar’s abysmal record against top African teams in recent years (since contract renewal) should be disturbing to SE lovers. The fact is that he is yet to win against top six African teams since renewing his contract.
When Mr. Dumbo Roar aka DW sports middle man and his apologists decides to brag about records, it is important to remind them that he has many of them..
    Roar’s Record since contract renewal;

    1. The first SE coach without a win in a year..
    2. The first SE coach to loose a 4 goal lead.
    3. The first SE coach to loose to Cameroon in regulation time in 32 yes.
    4. The first SE coach to loose a World Cup qualifying match at home in 40 years..

The nff under Picniking Picnnick and SE handled by dumbo Roar has not only broken unwanted records but has created new ones.

    • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

We brag about consequential records…eg 1st coach to qualify Nigeria for 3 consecutive tournaments with games to spare OR 1st Nigerian coach to to produce 3 consecutive top scorers back-to-back-to-back OR 1st Nigerian coach to qualify for a tournament with 2 games to spare OR the coach with the highest win ratio ever……LMAOoooo…..not inconsequential records that didnt cost us even a strand of hair on our bodies…..LMAOoooo

Your about the most realistic person here. Some of these posters here live in fantasy land.
Fire Rohr and get a ‘world class’ coach? You all need to wake up to the reality that absolutely NO world class coach, with any ounce of intelligence, would want anything to do with Nigeria.
Why? because Nigerians are not only ingrates, they never honor the terms of their contracts (owe for months) and don’t even feel any remorse for it. They also think they know it all, when they don’t know a damn thing.
Nigeria has a HORRIBLE reputation regarding the way they treat foreign and domestic coaches, from Troussier to Bonfrere Jo to Amodu to Keshi to Oliseh and now Rohr. You think other coaches around the world are not watching? How dumb can people be?? World Class Coach my arse!

I’m sorry, but where in Rohr’s contract does it state he has to win AFCON or be terminated? Not sure where you got that from, since Rohr himself confirmed that his mandates are: 1. Qualify for the AFCON, with a target of making the Semis and 2. Qualify for the World Cup, with a target of making it out of the group stages.

You might want to apprise yourself of the facts before posting things here.

May be you are referring to his first contract.
Winning the next ANC is part of the conditions (renewal) to remain as SE coach..
The next ANC will support or dispute all what the progressives on this forum have known about Rohr.

  • Dr Banks 2 years ago

For those of you guys that are bashing Rohr for putting Bryan Idowu on standby for Collins, I wish you guys can do a little bit of research before running to CSN forum to make comments from an ignorant angle.

Bryan Idowu has been in good form and a regular player in Russian Premier liga. He has played in a total of 14 league matches this season clocking 1,246 mins (averaged 89 mins per Game) meaning he was probably substituted in 1 match only. And Russian league is of higher standards and calibre than Scottish league. Also played 28 matches last season scoring 3 goals and 1 assist. He is a known soldier with the team with vast experience hence seamless blending.

Bassey on the other hand only plays a paltry handful of matches for Rangers in a much lower league compared to Russsia. Still raw with less time spent with SE, fairly less acquainted with the team and Rohr’s philosophy

        • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

It’s obvious some NFF bigwigs have some connection to Enyimba. Can we confidently say noble is the best home-based goalkeeper right now?

          • JimmyBall 2 years ago

@Footballfanatic… @CSN Zeus… Lol. Anayo Iwuala is a fantastic player… you all must know more than the seasoned football managers at Esperence of Tunis who bought him!

A seasoned club where the big boys of Tunisian football play… he has made a deserved move to a club where he can learn more and grow.

Anayo Iwuala as of this moment is still far better than an Ahmed Musa who is obviously these scoring only 4/10 rating in every Super Eagles game he uses his Northern connection to play… Mr 100 caps that was inactive and yet Marketer Coach Rohr was giving him minutes to help sell him… Lol.

          • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

@Jimmy I’m not talking about Iwuala… I’m talking about Noble being the reserve goalkeeper at Enyimba and getting a call to the super eagles.

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Dr Banks Stop it everyone is highlighting the danger of loosing a highly technical player in the mood of Bassey and you’re here talking about Idowu. We have lost Alaba in the past and Eze too on verge of going to England now Bassey then if tomorrow he becomes the captain of Bayern you’ll be the first to come bite your nails. Nigeria is good at loosing good players over average ones if you notice the trend!

      • Benakay 2 years ago

        @Chima E Samuels
So, the coach had a chance to watch Bassey closely during training for over a week.
He is in the best position to determine if the guy is ready and based on his assessment (not pandering to the sentiments of media and/or fans), determined he was not up to par yet.
Idowu, on the other hand, is a tried and tested, battle proven player. So, for this crucial set of matches, he chose Idowu. End of story.

I repeat, only a corrupt country like Nigeria will want to have anything to do with the likes of Rohr.

Drey comes here always talking about qualifications for WC or Afcons with the calibre of players as if its a big deal. Keshi qualified and won Afcon and made WC Second round with inferior players (if we consider player for player and club for club). Infact Keshi had no bench. Rohr’s bench should be beating CAR, Liberia etal black and blue.

Also @Drey, I need you to know that Westerhoff and Bonfrere are also products of corruption in high places. Yet they did far better than Rohr.

Rohr is very poor. Yes. He can be owed salaries for years because he is content at being associated with the SE brand. You can see his Hotel business and partnership with DW sports GIVING him enough.

At the end…like we say on the street; las las na Naija dey lose

          • Benakay 2 years ago

            @ M. Shaibu,
Close quarters – Bassey was invited for the CAR home and home series. He trained, slept, ate and bonded with the team for close to 7 days, both in Lagos and Cameroon. If that wasn’t close quarters enough, I don’t know what is!

Rohr should be beating CAR and Liberia black and blue? Really? Why do Nigerians always believe that other countries have been static in their development, just sitting down twiddling their thumbs. That to me is one of the most singular reasons why our country has never developed at the pace it should be. Complete Arrogance and ineptitude for other countries in Africa.

Qualification for two of the biggest tournaments in African football (i.e. AFCON and the WC) ARE a big F-ing deal! That is the way your football as a Nation develops and that’s the only way you calibrate yourself against other footballing teams. Not qualifying IS a big deal, as it sets your football development backwards. You lose out in player development, brand marketing and revenue generation, to name a few. Yes, it is a very BIG deal!

        • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Ben what close quarters are you talking about? A coach that doesn’t have eyes, a coach that a point didn’t know how to kill off games. Master abeg if you don’t know anything just crawl back into your hole. You think Bassey and Collins na mate talkless about Idowu.

          • Benakay 2 years ago

Dude, I really don’t have time for your infantile ramblings. If you are ready to have a mature and intelligent debate about the facts, then I am all ears. If you’re not, please just go your merry way.
I really don’t have time for BS, please!

    • Omo9ja 2 years ago

So, Oga did not know all this you said before inviting Bassey into camp?

You people are missing the point.

No continuity in Oga Rohr work. He invited, Dessers, Yakubu, Alanpasun, Osagwe, Onyekuru and now Bassey, none of these players got a chance to prove their worth to the gaffer and you are here sounding like this way?

Are you kidding me kę? Are expecting us to keep quiet because of our world best coach? doing a big business in the national team?

If I may ask you, you don’t see anything wrong in what the coaches of the Super Eagles are doing?

No wonder Nigeria in this mess. Kai. This is very bad. God bless Nigeria!!!

      • Benakay 2 years ago

Sorry, Omo9ja, was your question directed at me?

If so, here is my take…
Dessers, at the time of his invite, was with KRC Genk. We all know he made very limited appearances due to Onuachu being in form. So, it made no sense inviting him at the expense of other strikers who were banging in goals at the time – Moffi, Awoniyi, Iheanacho, Osimhen and not to mention Onuachu. Even Onyekuru was hitting stride.
All the keepers you named: Yakubu, Alampasu, Osagwe – it may be helpful to see how they are tracking with their clubs. They have not improved any since their invitations. Alampasu and Osigwe in particular have been on the decline. So, what have they done to justify an invite? Absolutely nothing.
Like I stated earlier, Bassey probably did not prove that he was better than either Zaidu or Collins or even Idowu in the eyes of the coach. Again, maybe first time jitters. However, it is not the end of the world, afterall, Chidera didn’t impress initially but now, has pretty much forced himself into the starting 11. Bassey, at this time, is deemed not good enough – much like Chidera was initially.

        • Mahmud Shuaib 2 years ago

Your arguments are shallow. Very shallow. Agreed Dessers was benched by an inform Onuachu.

Is Ighalo playing in backwaters Saudi league in better form than Awoniyi with 7’goals in Germany not discounting Europe??

You mean at close quarters, a declining Musa is in better form than Dennis?

You mean at CLOSE QUARTERS an in active John Noble was in better form than Enyimba’s first choice or a South African based Akpeyi is in better form than the first choice goalie of an Israeli based team?

Its only a coach bereft of ideas who will bring back Ighalo from.Saudi and leave out players playing for top 10 European teams.

Guardiola looking into the future allowed a declining Aguero to go trusting youths. Thats a top coach.

You dont leave out the young man leading the line for a club occupying top 8 position in the Bundesliga for a spent force plying their trade in Saudi. Only a corrupt, inept journeyman businessman will do that.

I repeat the best players for CAR and Liberia play for inferior clubs compared to our bench warmers. So, yes, we ahould be beating their likes black and blue.

If in doubt ask Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Cote Ivoire, Egypt…these are our contemporaries and they totally dominated the lesser nations. Only NIGERIA struggled during the qualifiers.

          • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Only Nigeria struggles in the qualifiers and we’re top of our group? How? Ask those countries that didn’t struggle if they will rest or sleep if paired with Nigeria at any point at the AFCON or the WorldCup playoffs.

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Now I will not blame Tomori, Abraham and co anymore since it’s obvious that some fans are not different from the sickness engulfing Nigeria. So if Bassey starts against Liberia or Cape Verde he will not hold is own abi? This is exactly why I try not to waste my time on this page anymore. Better things ahead no time for the rubbish anymore.

  • William d conqueror 2 years ago

Why are Nigerians disturbing themselves? Like I said on another thread that this man is compromised, Nigeria will not qualify for the world cup, know this and know peace.

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Rohr is going to be faced with some crucial decision making leading up to the Nation’s cup proper. It is in the British tabloids that he is about to overhaul the watford defence and he hasn’t been impressed with Ekong. This means Ekong might start being benched. I will see if Rohr will have the balls to bench Ekong if he is inactive at club level. N’koulou is preferred by Ranieri and the game against arsenal is the beginning.

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Ranieri is about to overhaul his defence*****

      • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

Let’s watch and see Watford will still struggle with or without Ekong. Worst case scenario Ekong will go back to Udinese and I’m sure N’koulou will not fare better than Ekong in that Watford defense. It is not a secret that they will need a miracle to beat the drop. Ekong is not going to play every minute or every game. Aside the match against Arsenal Ekong has played every game.

        • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

Yeah he has only played 2 or 3 games under Ranieri which is enough for a seasoned manager to decide if he fits in his system or not but let’s see how things go.

        • JimmyBall 2 years ago

Ekong is not a decent defender… only someone who does know what contemporary times central defender schould be that will take Ekong serious… he seriously below average… these days I rate Awaziem and even Umeruo higner than him…. I have never been impressed with Ekong!

          • JimmyBall 2 years ago

A seasoned coach Ranieri has weighed him and found him wanting… sad but the guy has no capacity to improve! Super Eagles really helped prop-up his career right from Olympics… he wanted to be in the eyes of the world… he saw he had no chance with Netherlands and he settkled for Nigeria… a people madly in awe of light-skinned mixed kids…

    John Noble in?
Bryan Idowu rumoured to be on standby!

With all due respect to Rohr; this is utter nonsense. It simply makes no sense.

Noble being selected is just disgraceful.

And there is no way, an Idowu is better than a Bassey. I don’t care about what scale the measurement is. Bassey is simply better. A natural lefty that can play both ass a wing back and in centre defence. Plus he is younger. Also as a guiding presence in both Balogun and Aribo.

If the rumours are true and Idowu is called up as a back up over Bassey; then Rohr has blatantly lost the plot!

We should be proactive. We should be talking of easing out old heads like Musa, Shehu et al and integrating fresher fitter and consistent players like Awoniyi, Moffi, Sadiq, Dessers, Bassey whilst putting a close eye on younger ones like Amoo,Onyedika,Al Hassan and a resurgent Odey etc.
Not forcing a retired Ighalo back. And hoping on an Onuachu, who simply in my book is just manageable at best.

    What’s Rohr’s plan? really?!

  • Edi14 2 years ago

Maduka Okoye has just be signed by watford football club. Yet some person’s were criticizing the coach for inviting him that he was from a fourth division league. Look at how the young man has kept climbing the ladder, yet we are here fighting for ppl that are yet to even make a move since only the earth knows when. What an elder sees why sitting a child will never see even standing so tall on his toes.

    • Yes he has been signed because he was well marketed by the criminal coach, if the same opportunity was given to others they’ll also prosper, my brother this one no be news. Maduka will have a close look now because no more hiding place in EPL. I wish him well in addy…..

      • Benakay 2 years ago

        @ Joe…
Let me understand your logic regarding Rohr ‘marketing’ Okoye.

In 2018, Rohr decided to play a 19yr old, Francis Uzoho, in the 3 games Nigeria played in the WORLD CUP. The WORLD CUP.
Uzoho, due to injury or what have you, never really took advantage of that ultimate ‘Marketing’, which any footballer would die for.

Fast forward 2019, Rohr ‘discovered’ a young and promising keeper, Maduka Okoye, who was on the bench in the Nigeria vs Brazil game, when Uzoho went down to injury. Maduka took FULL advantage of the opportunity, not renewing his contract with Dusseldorf to take a risk with an up and coming team, Sparta Rotterdam. He came in as second choice to Dutch keeper Benjamin Van Leer, Sparta’s #1 keeper. Maduka worked his tail off and displaced him to become Sparta’s #1 and sustained his performance to eventually win a sport on the eerdivisie team of the year.

What has that got to do with Rohr? Was Uzoho not marketed MORE than Maduka? Why not discuss the facts, instead of reveling in conspiracy theories? Gosh!

Idowu is managed by DW Sports Management, who appear to have connections in the glass house. If it’s true that Idowu is on standby instead of the more deserving Bassey, then something is not quite right!
Idowu is a good player, but Bassey is simply better. Faster, stronger, more skillful, natural lefty, great crosses of the ball. An ideal left back/left wing back. Idowu will try his best and is indeed a decent player, but the SE should be about the very best players, and Bassey is better than Idowu in the left back position.
I suspect that Rohr is having Idowu forced on him at this time. Rohr needs to grow some COJONES and insist on merit. It’s his head on the chopping block, after all!

  • Idowu again aaah these people have started again. Shey é ya werey ni? Ahbi what’s all these stupid nonsense sef. Just imagine o

  • Sunnyb 2 years ago

Folks, ve told you guys many times the combination of Eguavoen, Pinnick, Dikko and Aigbogun would doom Nigeria football, Rohr should run away from these if he has any honor. These old fools are just like the current govt corruption everywhere nobody seems to care anymore, imaging Idowu, noble, Shehu,Ighalo at the expenses of young aggressive consistent players. But this Nigeria where people love to hustle backwards.
