2023 AFCONQ: Bonke Returns To Training Ahead Sao Tome Clash

Lorient midfielder Innocent Bonke has been declared fit for Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup qualifiying fixture against Sao Tome and Principe, reports Completesports.com.

Bonke sustained an injury in Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly defeat against Mexico last month.

The former Malmo player missed the team’s subsequent friendly defeat to Ecuador and Thursday’s clash against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.

Bonke however joined team training for the first time on Friday night which put him in the frame to feature against Sao Tome and Principe.

Watford defender William Troost-Ekong has however been ruled out of the game due to muscle injury.

Troost-Ekong picked up the injury in the 80th minute of the 2-1 win against Sierra Leone.

The centre-back flew back to London on Friday for further checks on the injury.

The Super Eagles will depart Abuja for Marrakech, Morocco on Saturday for the game.

We need to see Onyeka instead of Bonke. He plays once and gets injured, Let’s try Onyeka, he seems better than Bonke.

Onyeka is obviously better than Bonke.Onyeka has not disappointed in the super eagles colour.
He is comfortable on the ball and has flair, besides he’s never found wanting in defence duties and play more offensively unlike Bonke who will rather pass backwards or sideways.

Bonke is a Good player but has not been fortunate with injuries ,obviously not his fault.. We have not seen him play much so let’s not be too quick to judge him.. He has been battling injury this season yet he didn’t do what others would have done by rejecting the invitation, he came for the friendlies and worsen his injury.. He should not start the game on Monday, but can come in the second half he is required.. Fishing him the Best

Well I don’t think it’s a good idea to compound your injuries when you should have used the advantage of the off season to heal properly.
Aside that,I have seen enough of his game he’s not what we need in the super eagles.
A Kingsley Michael,Daniel Daga would be a good addition, super eagles midfield has done well in the past with players that have flair, the likes of late Thompson Oliha,Friday Ekpo,Moses Kpakor,Sunday Oliseh,Mercurial Augustine Okocha,Henry Nwosu, late Muda Lawal,Ademola Adeshina,John Obi Mikel, Alexander Iwobi,Ogenyi Onazi,Mutui Adepoju,Monday Agbontaen,Edema Fuludu,Wilfred Ndidi the list goes on.
If you don’t have flair I’m afraid you will struggle playing for the super eagles,Bonke has not got flair, though he has his own qualities that works for him but not the kind of player we need unfortunately.
