A mouth-watering clash is on the cards as the host nation Ghana take on arch-rivals Nigeria in the opening match of the WAFU B U-17 Championship, reports Completesports.com.
The encounter is billed for the Cape Coast Stadium. Kick off is 5pm Nigerian time.
The hosts have been depleted after several top players failed the mandatory age test leading up to the tournament.
Golden Eaglets head coach, Nduka Ugbade is confident his side will make a big impact in the competition.

“I am happy with the squad that we have been able to come up with, and I can say confidently that we are in Ghana to make the nation proud,” Ugbade told CAFonline.com.
“Our primary objective is to earn a ticket to the Africa Cup of Nations, and then we go full throttle for the trophy.
“Nigeria has a pedigree in U-17 football and we cannot afford to disappoint.”
The two finalists from the competition will feature at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria early next year.p

Ghana in trouble again…chai
On his Under-17 top managerial debut, it will be interesting to see what sort of tactical-rabbit Nduka Ugbade pulls out of his hat.
I am a tad surprised that my enigmatic Ghanaian brother Selfie is yet to comment on this story thread. I pray Nduka Ugbade helps me keep him quiet for today at least.
Like the legendary terminator, he will be back but in truth nothing will make me happier this weekend than Ugbade’s boys putting Ghana in their place.
Even if that happens, Selfmade will still bombard this space with YouTube clips of Nigeria’s failed Qatar 2022 expedition. That chap has become a constant reminder to the NFF of ‘HOW NOT TO APPROACH A CRUCIAL WORLD CUP QUALIFIER PARTICULARLY AGAINST YOUR BITTEREST RIVALS.’
I used to abhor Selfmade’s presence on this platform however, as time goes on, I am actually starting not to mind him that much: he is hilarious and he is gradually turning Nigeria’s world cup qualification failure into comic relief which is beginning to dilute the hurt of us not qualifying.
Anyways, all eyes on the Super Golden Eaglets today. The whole of West Africa will be tuned to this titanic clash to see the last team standing.
In 2022, Nigeria has faced Ghana 5 times across Under-20, Senior Women’s and Senior Men’s football. These have ended in 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss for Nigeria. For those who followed one of my contributions recently using quality vs quantity analysis, you will agree that, yet again, Ghana has won on the quality score while Nigeria won on quantity.
Although we have won more games against Ghana this year, their 2 draws against the Super Eagles was all they needed for the biggest prize of all, Qatar World Cup. Anything else is, quite frankly, immaterial to them.
And do you blame them? Most Nigeria fans will happily trade the Super Falcons and Bosso-tutured Under-20 wins for the draws that took Ghana to the world cup!
Anyway, we move.
Good luck to Ugbade and his boys. Though just ‘Quantity’ please help us extend our winning run against Ghana in 2022 with an emphatic victory this afternoon.
You meant Dr strange in disguise hasn’t commented on this game. Don’t worry he will soon pop out like pop corn
Of course the biggest theatre on earth is THE SENIOR wc and nothing else!! The underage competitions esp with respect to Africa is not even fair!!
Nigerians cheats too much lol!!
You’re just a disgusting being always making people commit sin by replying your nonsense every time. It is the same you that accused Nigeria of fielding older players, and now the update shows that Ghana team was depleted due to age rejection by MRI. Now who’s the thief here often time I pray to meet you in real when next I visit your rubbish fetish country filled with negative fellows so that I can beat the hell out of you before handing you over to my military friends at Burma Camp. Rubbish idiot disgracing his country on a public domain of another country!!!

@ you are spot on and nothing more to add, but just to wish our U17 good luck
Please I need your help. I have not been seeing the comments column of the Complete Football International ( CFI) a daily must read for me where I also comment on football stories or comments. It has been since I reminded the admin to stop hate posts that dwell on countries and their citizens and not issues.
Another walkover for Ghana. This is our opportunity for a revenge for the U20 slim loss. Nigeria was lucky once, but they will fall this time! Special thanks to CAF for always giving us an easy and winnable draw. The fact that Nigeria always uses aver aged players will not stop us. Let me go and chill some drinks in anticipation of an easy win.
Don’t be too sure about that, though you are playing at home but in competition home and away doesn’t count.
Meanwhile, this is not the senior national team where you can make predictions based on the known players available for the game but at under17 levels especially the first games we are seeing the players for the first time,we don’t even know their names nor where they ply their trade,so boasting of winning in this circumstances is just incredible haha..
Let us enjoy good football hopefully, and let the best side win. This two good sides I suppose because both countries have always presented quality players at this level, could meet again in the finals so the result today may not necessarily decides the bragging rights my Ghanaian friends ha..
Hope your story won’t change after the whitewash of your so called clean Starlest, beaciae you’re already making excuses for failure. You’re already preparing our mind that in case your eams loses today, no one should blame them because it can only be through age cheating. Funny enough, I read how many of your players were dropped due to cheating. I also remember how Morocco’s
protested vigorously for the married women you presented against them Cape Coast. Thank God they got their perfect revenge after disgracing your cheating girls in the second match. Stupid hypocrisy. Your country is guilty of what you always accuse Nigeria of. Fix your home first before pointing your fingers at others.
Hope you watching. Its 2 -0 now. Nigeria just needs to calm down and play good football. This Ghanaians are also good going forward. there defense is just prorous
Any link for the match

What is even wrong with complete Sports? Can’t they give us live report of the WAFU U-17 tournament match between the Golden Eaglets and their Ghanaian counterparts?
Please, anyone that is following the match live online should be giving us report every 15 minutes.
Thanks ahead for whoever does it.
Thanks for sharing the link. Immediately I switched to the link shared, Nigeria scored their second goal as they extend their lead in the 44th minute.
Ghana 0 vs Nigeria 1 (Emmanuel Michael 13th mins). These eaglets plays similar like 2013 golden Eaglets. 1st half is almost ending.

GOaaaaal ,Second goal for Nigeria (Precious williams)
Ghana 0 vs Nigeria 2 ( half time)
It’s half time now. Ghana 0 Nigeria 2.
Nigeria is playing far better against these old Ghanaian men.
Maybe their juju not working for then this time.
These Nigeria boys are good.
Thank God for these new talents.
God bless Nigeria.
Anyone seen Selfmade idiot and his band of comedians? I have some hot Banku soup news to share to them. Hehehehe. This is what everyone (including honest Ghanaians) expected SE to do to the charcoal stars in Kumasi, but Eguavoen flunked it. 2-0 and the rain of goals has not stopped as it’s still first half. Thanks @deo for the link.
Kel, I no fit laff tire! Honestly Super Eagles messed up o. All our other national teams have done the business against Ghana this season. Admittedly, even the Super Eagles did not lose but lost out due to away goals.
If this match ends like this, it will be 3 wins, 2 draws and just 1 loss to Ghana this season across Under 17, Under 20, senior men’s and senior women’s football.
We have scored 7 goals and conceded just 2 goals against them in 6 games this season.
But, they picked their game sha, that Qatar world cup qualification double draws is king!
Let’s try to console ourselves in missing out of Qatar 2022 by assuming we won’t have gone there to win the World Cup rather than making the numbers.
Although, it still hurts me, our consolation right now should be the dominance of our other national teams over the Ghanaians. With the success of of the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets, we are sure of at least 3 talents each from both teams.
Hahaha Can’t wait for Self made idiot’s ‘over age’ excuses. Good stats, but which Nigerian team lost to them? I thought they haven’t got a single win this year, although ironically they got Qatar ticket, no thanks to old-school CAF. I’m sure the selfmade idiot dude, Top-Down and his likes are around and reading comments but their fingers have suddenly turned to butter.
Kel, the Super Falcons lost to Ghana’s Black Queens 1:0 away. We won the home leg 2:0.
Nigerian did well but we will still meet u in the finals and beat u so relax haha
Just make it down that we are meeting in the finals and we ll clip that wings!!
Btw are these BOKOM boys really under 17? Hahaha
We might be fortunate to spell Ghana with 3 more goals needed. Great first half. I just feel we lost the midfield at some point. But we do have good attacking players. And the defense so far can’t complain, but the 2 full backs need to be careful rushing forward. Honestly this Ghanaian u 17 are wey better than there under 20 that played.
With all sincerity the golden eaglet is just too much for there Ghanaian counterparts, ghana should just be careful so we don’t whitewash them completely this evening
It is possible to spell Ghana with goals, because these set of golden eaglets mean business and u can also count on Nduka Ugbade
…when you watch Nigeria at U-17 and U20 level you will know in terms of real skill and football brain and fluidity, most players in the Super Eagles are not just good enough. This is the sort of raw football and boldness that I know from my involvement in the game to know most of the senior team players actually are deficient in the rawness and those traits you already should have a sixteen year old. We don’t hate some of the senior team players, they are just overhyped. We did not qualify for Qatar because 85% of the team are just average… I must say that we still need a replacement for Moses Simon, Chukwueze, Ekong as they are not giving us the results we deserve… Iwobi, Etebo, Semi and Aribo can do more… but I will say, Aribo is slowly getting used to the grit of African Football… it is different from European Soccer…
Didn’t most of them play the same U-17 and U-20? Didn’t Kelechi Nwakali, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze play U-17 and won Gold medals? Lol
My observation is that nigeria is having more left footed players in all our national team more than ever before. In this present u17 i can count of atleast about five players who are left footed, same goes with u20 and SE. I am impressed with this team especially with the way the take set pieces. This should teach some so called SE stars lesson, who refused to improve on crosses and set pieces.
With these set of players and the u20, I am little bit optimistic that the future is bright for our football.
@Mercy good talk…
The Nigerian defense looks suspicious to me. Towards the end of the First half, the Ghanaians attack looks like they will score with the chances that came their way. I will at this point advice the Coach to tighten the defense to the opposition from making easy foray into our 18 yard box.
From the look of things, I won’t be surprised if the Black Starlets happens to be the first team to score the first goal in the second half. Although, I won’t want such to happen.
I pray we carry the day no matter what happens at the end of the match.
3-00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
ghana 1 Nigeria 3 (58th mins)
Gooaal for Nigeria (Ike) . Ghana 1 Nigeria 4. 80th mins.
It was a matter of time.Nigeria build play was always going to pay off against the the physical slightly over aged looking Ghananians. The first goal of a free kick was a beauty to behold plus the assured goalkeeping of our No 1
Ghana outplayed us in the 2nd half. And with the poor officiating, ghana wouldn’t have scored at all. Well the boys tried, they just have to learn to play has a team. The number 10 was just selfish. So many chbaced he could have laid a pass but was busy shooting. Well lets see what they play on Tuesday
penalty! for Ghana. Ghana 2 Nigeria 4
It’full time, Ghana 2 Nigeria 4. Congrats Golden Eaglets.
Useless ghana team lol!! Well played to Nigeria but are those TALL BOYS are under 17? Lol
These boys looked too old haha
Selfie my good man. It’s great to see you. How market na?
Nigeria did well but is going to be a repeat of 2014 wafu cup in cape coast where Nigeria beat us in the group stage and then we revenged start the finals lol
Nothing new here! We ll qualify to the finals
The Nigerian players looked too old for sure! These boys aren’t under 17 never and that’s why am STICKING TO MY SENIOR WC qualification ….
Ur under 20 was too old and this under 17 doesn’t looked different too!!
And is not like their age is 17, some of them are as young as 15,16 years and they looked like this
Africa MRI is a lie!! Most of these boys ll be disqualify by fifa!! Lol
Btw we having MERCY ON NIGERIANS hahha
@ deo
See you in the final then. 🙂
@Selfmade, but it is on record the MRI detected over 30 Ghanaian players of being over aged and those players were rejected. So who is the real cheat here? Nigerian boys are all in football academy and none in club
Selfie be sincere 3 of ur players play ur MTN pro league. These Nigeria boys are all academy players
Well I loved the way the tall guy played. MRI has affirmed him to be under 17. If the Ghanaians can beat Togo. I see them in the semis. Luck was just not on there side. They panicked after conceding those goals. And the refs are very pathetic. So splendid calls most especially the penalty call for us and the one against us. Abeg CAF remove all this ur trainee refs abeg
These caf mri isn’t valid lol
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/dear-fifa-there-is-no-scientific-test-to-prevent-age-fraud/
This is a bogus scientific invention that is purely psychological and this is a clear case of VOODO science!!
The mere fact that they undergo mri scan means their ages are valid!!
These boys are never under 17 and am not only talking about Nigeria but Ghana as well
Bro I know where u coming from but mri is still flawed
@Selfmade, yes it is flawed when u lose, but not very correct when yr U20 won the world cup…LOL
Jeez, I know you will say that. I want to add excuse for you. The weather caused it, the Ghanian goal post is too wide, the goal keeper was not feeling too well, the Ghanian team didn’t sleep well a day before the match and finally, the team didn’t perform well coz they didn’t eat before the match. Kindly add yours.
