2023 AFCONQ: Peseiro Reacts To Super Eagles’ Victory Against Guinea-Bissau

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro says his side were deserving winners following Monday night’s victory against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.

The West Africans defeated the Djurtus 1-0 at the September 24 Stadium, Bissau.

It was a sweet revenge for Peseiro’s, who suffered an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Baciro Cande’s side last week Friday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Moses Simon scored the winning goal from the spot on the half hour mark after Bright Osayi-Samuel was brought down inside the box

Peseiro said the Super Eagles could have scored more goals in both games but for their profligacy in front of goal.

“We could have won 6-1 in Abuja and 5-0 here in Bissau today because we played better on Friday than today. But that’s football, some times you played better than your opponents but the result will show otherwise,”Peseiro in his post-match interview.

“We dominated the match more at home than today but we could not convert our scoring chances.”

The Super Eagles will travel away to Sierra Leone for their next match on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

Sincerely speaking, this coach has nothing to offer in term of expertise in the game, his technical and tactical know how is zero. from his first game in charge, I notice it but was cautious of saying has I though it was too early to judge his credentials but after 5 games, I think it is right to say it the way it is. with the caliber of players at his disposal, he really dont have excuse., the previous coach was better his and if it was to bring a lower standard coach then why did they sack the former. going through his C.V he has not really help all the teams he coached to anything at all. pls check his record. I wonder what pushed them to hire him. Sincere he cant take us to any glory in football and I wait for him to prove me wrong.

  • Is this man listening to himself talk? A coach saying his team could have won by 5 goals and yet ended up not scoring a single one in open play. Not once, but twice. Yet, you’re bold to make that claim. Who’s job is it to unlock defences?

GB coach got your number twice, choked the backline and you couldn’t figure out how to break his bus-parking defence down. Even the much-vilified Eguavoen beat this same team 2 – 0 with no penalties.

Stop saying you could have won 6-1 or 5-0. If you don’t know how to set your team up to unlock defences, then you’re the one who failed. Replace selfish players and ball-wasters like Chukwueze and get wingers like Ejuke and more of Osayi Samuel who can cause a nuisance in the opponent’s 18-yard box to create chances for Osimhen and Lookman, or force a penalty.

Find creative AMs like Orban to tune up the firepower on the front line, and look for a nerve-calming goalkeeper cos you don’t have any at the moment. Baba, who’s your goalkeeper coach? He doesn’t deserve his salary for this month.

Una sure say I no go fit coach pass this man so?

How can u score 6 goals in Abuja with 3 shots on target, your tactics are possession heavy, apathetic approach of the players and slow.

On standard ibternational pitches the Super Eagles could have won with wide margins in both Abuja and Bissau. Africa still has a long way to go.

  • Again to be frank these guys played very very well in both matches. However, this administrators are the real achitech of our downfalls modt time we have alwsys complained of bad pitch like Abuja both yet they keep insisting on that pitch like they have something they get from it. Secondly, i am 100% sure that by the time this man peseiro get the right players playing together things will begin to look good. Can i shock you if it were a top team we played with we may have beating then because there would be more spaces i the final third to exploit. But this GB came to defend and counter yet eagles were able to ein away. Thst should say a lot. Plesse i give the guys qudos. I believe pesiero wil do well. My mind keep telling me so. Letd just be patient the players are begining to get his style gradually.
