Junior Olaitan was the hero as his strike earned Benin Republic a 2-1 comeback win against Libya in abidjan on Tuesday.
Benin Republic had began the AFCON 2025 qualifiers with a 3-0 loss to Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday.
Faical Al Badri gave Libya the lead in the 9th minute which they took into the break.
But Five minutes into the second half Benin Republic equalised thanks to Steve Mounie.
In the 62nd minute Benin Republic went 2-1 ahead after Olaitan converted from the penalty spot.
In the group’s other game Rwanda settled for a 0-0 draw with the Super Eagles in Kigali.
After two rounds of games the Eagles, on four points top the group and Benin Republic are on three points.
Rwanda occupy third spot on two points while Libya are bottom on just a point.
