Sergio Ramos has been left out of Luis Enrique’s 24-man Spain squad for Euro 2020.
The Real Madrid legend has regularly captained his nation over the years, and was part of the Spain team that won the World Cup in 2010, but has struggled with injuries this season.
As a result, the 35-year-old centre-back will play no part in this summer’s competition, which kicks off on June 11.
Instead, Manchester City’s French defender Aymeric Laporte has been handed a call-up in the Spaniard’s place.

Enrique had the opportunity to name 26 players in his squad due to the impact coronavirus has had on the footballing world.
But the former Barcelona boss has opted to name just 24, with not one single Real Madrid player in his team.
A handful of Premier League stars also made the cut alongside Laporte.
There’s a place in the squad for Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, Manchester City midfielder Rodri, Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara and Wolves forward Adama Traore.
Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is another noticeable absence, with Manchester United’s David de Gea, Brighton shot-stopper Robert Sanchez and Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon all favoured over him.

Old age finally catching up with the Spanish legend. At 35, Ramos is no longer a spring chicken, football wise. Risky to take an injury prone 35 year old center back to the Euros, where he will have to contend with young, fast, sleek strikers. So I understand Luis Enrique’s decision here.
What I struggle with is how he can pick a national squad without including a single Real Madrid player! I may be wrong, but I don’t think this has ever happened in Spain before. For Spain to compete in an international football tournament without a Madrid player in the squad. Yikes!
