AFCON 2021: Egypt Must Be Wary Of Chukwueze, Umar –Tijani Warns

Former Nigerian winger, Tijani Babanginda believes Super Eagles duo of Samuel Chukwueze and Sadiq Umar will pose big threat to Egypt in today’s Group D game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Tijani made this known in an interview with FilGoal, where he said that Chkwueze’s mesmerizing skills and Umar’s goal scoring prowess will be of nightmare to the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Chukwueze has recovered from an injury that kept him out of action for his Villarreal side for months and looks set to take Africa by storm in the ongoing competition.

Sadiq on the other hand is making his first appearance for the senior national team and would hope to be named in Austin Eguavoen’s XI against Egypt.

However, Tijani is confident Nigeria will overcome Egypt today.

“Nigeria has individual players and also has new faces that can surprise the world if given the opportunity, such as striker Sadiq Umar and Samuel Chukwueze, a player who is good to watch.”

Wow, 30 mins into the game, and Sierra Leone are holding their own against Algeria. They are playing almost everyone behind the ball, but are capable of swift counter attacks. So far, Algeria have not had a sniff of goal. Finding it really hard to create chances. Still early days though. All Algeria need is one goal, for the floodgates to open.

Which floodgates??So far Sierra Leone has posed the biggest threat going forward.Yeah Algeria has more possession but Sierra Leone has not scored only due to inexperience.

        45th minute, and still goalless!
Let’s hope S/L continue to be defensive minded. If they get over confident and start committing too many men forward, Algeria will exploit the gaps they leave behind.
If S/L can just convert one of the chances coming their way, we may be in for a treat!

Algeria could carry the day but only by a slim margin.Football has evolved in Africa. The so called big nations finds it hard breaking down the minnows.
Gernot Rohr was sacked because he couldn’t destroy all opposition en route Cameroon and Qatar. That was hugely a wrong call by Pinnick. Our eyes are now open to reality, the likes of Algeria are struggling against a side we so much underrated and berated Rohr for getting a draw..the most important thing is we are getting qualification done, the rough road towards achieving that shouldn’t have mattered.
What this Afcon has thought us is to realise that things are not as we thought they are and to appreciate what Rohr achieved for us during his time.
The Cape Verde we topped in the 2nd round qualifiers has proved so far one of the standout teams yet someone’s job was wrongly relieved for not annihilating them.
          Strange decision indeed.

The way this game is going, only a naive moment can give Algeria the advantage. As long as Sierra Leone continue to manage the game as they’ve been doing, they stand a chance. Algeria though will continue to wait for that one error, or a moment of ingenuity from their key men.

These Agerians can’t get shot on goal and Sierra leone players are really outpacing them. I will not be surprised if Algeria lose this game. It’s 0-0 at HT.

    S/L goal ruled offside!

The S/L left back has done a splendid job marking Mahrez. The Man City man has been tightly policed so far.

So, the U-17 winning combo of Awoniyi and Iheanacho are united once again in the attack.

    Sure Nigeria is winning.

  • Can someone tell SLE to move the ball fast. Algeria is there for the taking. And thanks to the SLE goalkeeper they still in the game.

    Hats of to S/L.
Belmadi has become the S/L coach’s boy.
It’s now obvious to all that this S/L team that held Nigeria to a 4-4 draw is no pushover.

This is simply one of the facts some old footballers failed to get…. they should not have sacked him… it’s not far fetched that the decision to fire Rhor was not Divine.

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

GENERAL ROHR could have handled the pressure so easily and deliver cos he has been there for five years.. But they all snitched on his ass using Eguavon. Got him fired and appointed “their own”. With just two weeks tell me how is the pressure not going to be too much?
