I hope Iheanacho and Awoniyi reignite their U-17 partnership. Awoniyi could do well with his pace and direct-play.

Algeria is currently sweathing it out against sierra Leon of all teams. Hehehee… When we played them some months back, tongues were wagging all over the place as to why we didn’t bamboozle them. Some said rohr was a clueless coach and the eagles played without purpose and with no pattern. Now, the same team is giving the best team in Africa and current afcon champions ginger and garlic to chop. Hehehe…Cameroun needed 2 set pieces to save themselves from embarrassment against burkinafaso, Senegal needed the same set piece in the dying minutes to clinch 3 points against Zimbabwe of all teams. I wonder what would’ve happened if it were rohr who got all these results.??? The media wouldve been awash with all sorts of articles with many castigating the coach and his team but what this has shown us is that there are no minnows in football again whilst vindicating rohr in the long run. Even the nations thought to be small footballing nations and point givers have all wised up and are out to give big footballing nations a run for their money. I wish the team a the best today. I hope they shall play with purpose that would clearly show our ‘identity ‘, that is tiki taka football that we are known for. i expect Mr no nonsense coach to bring his board game analysis on YouTube to reality as we face our first afcon 2021 lithmus test in just a few hours time. The cup or nothing…..

  • Our players need to be very disciplined defensively just like Sierra leone were against Algeria. Good performance from them.
I guess iheanacho is playing the number 10 role. He will be tasked with getting the ball to awoniyi to score while chukwueze will be there to dazzle the Egyptians and lay the ball to iheanacho to apply his usual assured finishing. My only issue is I feel we are to open in midfield with just ndidi and aribo (who is more effective playing in an advanced position). If it were ndidi and a mikel or a ndidi and etebo I wont be worried.
Also, our full backs are the over lapping kind with lot of pace behind them. Let them not be carried away with getting up the field and forget their defensive duties. They are defenders first and should be very defensive minded today before anything else.
All in all the selection is ok. They can do some real damage with this lineup if they are all alert to their responsibilities.
All the best to the team today. Come out victorious!

    • Yap,no other role open to Iheanacho than the nmba 10 role na.
So yes he is definitely playing that role and that is his best role even. Kudos to Eguavoen on that pick.

I must say your analysis is beautiful o. Indeed you are spot on, on Aribo. I don’t know anything about the Egyptian midfield, so I hope the coach knows the risk sha.

I like this team generally. I knew they won’t start Musa, but he is one for matches like this. Musa nor dey use eye see Ronaldo,Messi or any star like Salah,he would just enter “beast” mode. They could have started him for Awoniyi here and he will shock the world. Anyways no p,off the bench Musa is ready.

We get ready for the match.
Once again your analysis is good.

Nice line up. Simon and Sanusi to pin down Salah on the left side. Onye ball Chukwueze to wreck havoc from the right. Aribo playing as a holding midfielder next to Ndidi is basically the same way they’ve been playing under Rohr, but the good thing is moving Simon to the led.

Wow!!!Wow!!! Wow!!! Algeria couldn’t break down the resilience of the Kamaras from Sierra Leone. The Leone Stars shut out the African champions. If the SuperEagles can get a decent result against Egypt they will be the undisputed favorite. But let’s take it game by game and see if we are on the path of glory. VAMOS ARRIBBA SUPEREAGLESSS!!!

    Good luck guys………. wonderful line-up

  • Golden Child 2 years ago

The coach went for a cautious approach, i think he is giving the Egyptians too much respect and i hope this does not come back to bite us because we might just have invited them to attack. This line up is not very creative; with the attacking talent in the team, we should have gone a little stronger. This is more or less the same team Rohr has been parading and they struggled to create chances. Chukwueze is the only one that will carry the creative burden.

Anyway, good luck SE and make us proud!

Aside Iwobi who else should have been in the lineup?

    • Mirah 2 years ago

We really need to be defensive minded against a team like Egypt

Attacking options come in later in the game, and that will even come with caution. I think it’s a balanced line up.

      #Team9jaStrong

    • You are on point, nothing has changed. Only Balogun & Osimhen are missing. In my opinion, Awaziem should have replaced Ekong. Eguavoen is scared of change.

  • You can’t do more boss man eguavoen, go for the win guys up SE .

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Na wah o. So this Moses Simon who was bribing Rohr to get starting shirts in the SE has also started to bribe Eguavoen too…LMAOOooo?

Expectation is the mother of disappointment. All I can say to the boys is goodluck to them all.

    • Ahaha Dr. Drey I expected you to say that. You’re right. That was my first thought too. I believe Moses will use his defensive abilities against Salah. Moses should also increase the gear if his game. He made Nigerians to call for his removal. He hardly gets crosses through..

His other strength whcih set pieces should also be improved upon too.

Fairly good line up. Except I would have preferred onyeka in aribo place and aribo in iheanacho place. We need to see aribo in advanced position in eagles. Onyeka and aribo can provide adequate cover for defence and also help in the attack.

On Algeria vs sierra Leone, Algeria were just poor in front of goal. The sieria leonean were saved by their keeper who was the man of the match.

It shows the Algerians are vulnerable too because sieria leonean had some chances in first half. Algeria can’t win this afcon with that attack that failed to convert simple chances.

    • You got it all wrong with Simon! My brother, if you were the Coach, you must play Simon because he’s a very strong and very versatile. He attacks, scores and defends as well. Today’s match have shown you exactly the kind of player he is. Rohr isn’t in the team today and if he’s a bribe giver to still play in such quality manner then i wonder what you are talking about.

  • As the first wind is about to blow, the game between the super Eagles and Egypt has the Oracle code of 11 written on it….
Whose 11 will shield it’s pressure better?

  • MAJOR FLEX 2 years ago

    Abeg were awaziem,
    Umar should start
    I hope to see Nwakali

  • The 2pm play under the Sun is affecting the Play of the big guns. We are fortunate to start with a 5pm schedule. Our 2pm will come but with a lesser strong team. At least on paper. This also favors the Egyptians too. My advice to the super eagles is not to downplay the danger of Mo Salah. He’s a key figure in the Liverpool machine. He can reproduce it here. He’s fit because he’s a super regular in Liverpool. See yourself as inferior. If you want to say you are mates, he will put you in your proper place. Truth be told there’s no Nigerian player in the class of Salah. So be cautious with him. It’s an advise. Already Musa hasn’t that spirit and Salah won the mind game by saying he respect Musa and so will not exchange words with him. The Islam way.

Whatever line up Coach Eguaveon has put up should be supported by all. Nigeria is our own and what the team needs right now is our moral support.

The time of Rohr has past and now, we have a new coach in charge of the team. Rohr won’t have stayed forever on the job and samething will apply to Eguaveon as he will surely leave soon after the Nations Cup. Nigeria is bigger than any Coach who handles the team no matter what the calibre of the manager.

I have some observations on Rohr’s supporters who are praying for this current team to fail. Before Rohr’s appointment, there was Super Eagles and after his dismissal, we still have the Eagles. Why can’t we support the team no matter who handles it?

  • Bobo Colorado Springs 2 years ago

What is this defensive approach you all talking about? like we are scared of Egypt. We need to attack and attack, that is how we will win Egypt. If they score one, we will score two, and if they manage to score two goals, we will score four goals. We need the 3 points not some nonesence draw.

  • Thought they say Simon and the goalkeeper is not good enough for the SE. Iheanaco playing number 10 though they said rohr is clueless, does it mean our “own” is clueless too? Anyway let’s go watch the match wish them all the best though

  • Ahaha Dr. Drey I expected you to say that. You’re right. That was my first thought too. I believe Moses will use his defensive abilities against Salah. Moses should also increase the gear if his game. He made Nigerians to call for his removal. He hardly gets crosses through..
