Côte d’Ivoire missed the chance to seal qualification into the round of 16, after a late blunder from their keeper Badra Ali Sangaré saw Sierra Leone snatch a late goal to earn a 2-2 draw in Group E on Sunday.
The Elephants had been coasting but an astonishing mistake from Sangare allowed Alhadji Kamara to tap in in the 93rd minute.
Sangare fumbled a back-header and could only watch helplessly as Kamara secured a second successive draw for the Leone Stars in Group E.

Sebastien Haller had given Côte d’Ivoire the lead after Franck Kessie missed from the penalty spot.
Musa Kamara equalized for Sierra Leone before Nicolas Pepe made it 2-1 to the Ivorians.
The draw means Sierra Leone have every hope of going through to the round of 16 if they beat Equatorial Guinea in their last group game.
Sierra Leone have two points from two games, while the Ivorians top the group with four points to their name.
However, the Elephants still have work to do when they face defending champions Algeria on Thursday.
And in Group F, Tunisia bounced back from their opening day defeat to thrash Mauritania 4-0 and record their first win.
The Tunisians are now just a point behind Mali and Gambia, who drew 1-1 in the group’s earlier game on Sunday.

Algeria, although enterprising played woefully today. They were playing against a less fancy side and all their players could do was falling up and down.
Incredible scene Equitorial Guinea just ended Algeria’s 30 something unbeaten run wow! Equitorial Guinea has a history of biting other nationals to play for them cuz the game these boys played was extra ordinary. Kudos to them for ending the unbeaten run regardless.

In my opinion, Algeria was unlucky today. They created a lot of chances, but could convert any clean chance. I’m actually worried because we may meet them in the 2nd round if they qualify as one of the best 3rd placed teams.

He plays in the Segunda division and was born in Spain just like majority of the EG team.Mixture of Portuguese and Spanish born players.EG was almost banned at one time for handing out passports to players that didn’t even have EG lineage and are still accused of doing that up till date. They are the only Spanish and Portuguese speaking country in Africa. A look at the team profile points to almost 80% foreign born players can’t underrate any team everybody is waking up.

Some people are still talking about bringing back ighalo cos he has experience, wonders shall never seize. Who can beat their chest and say ighalo will bring half of the effort and intensity that Awoniyi has brought to the SE thus far. People even saying ighalo would convert the chances that Awoniyi spirned, 1st of all Ighalo needs to put himself in those positions to even think of having those opportunities, you all know with the fadt players we have their is absolutely no way Ighalo can keep up. We all saw him against Cape Verde, e over am. Just imagine ighalo leading the line with this present eagles, the SE will be toothless i can assure you. If 9ja is willing to still give ighalo a try after that shambolic display against cape verde, then why should we not give Sadiq additional time. Onuachu played crap at the last afcon but was still given ample opportunities, why should after just less than 30mins of game time for Sadiq we are already concluding he isnt SE material. If sadiq isnt good enough for SE then Ighalo and onuachu dont merit it either.
I have alot of respect for Eguavoen but if he singled out Sadiq for public criticism then dats a shame. As a coach you dont throw ur player under the bus for less than 30mins of play time. Eguavoen as honest as he sounds should be tactical and smart when addressing the press, there are ways to side step certain questions so as not to jeopardize the confidence of players on the team. I hope he doesnt use his mouth to undo all the good things he is doing with this team. If its true that he telled at chukwueze in training for dribbling, that can backfire on d team. U want your players to express themselves but then u are restricting dem for doing dsame expression u are calling for. I love the current super eagles set up…not built around any big star. I think it’s a major set back to build a team around a particular player….in SE anyone can score, centered on team work.. evenly balanced team. those teams built around a particular player are not doing well in this tournament.

Every coach who took us to the WC and failed to make it out of the group stages always got the sack. ONIGBINDE 2002, BERTI VOGTS 2010. Even BORA MILUTINOVIC who made swcond round at France 98 was relieved of bis post. Go and watch his matches and compare them to ROHR’s in 2018.
My allegiance is to NIGERIA and so whoever is in charge has our support until it becomes apparent that person is no longer suitable for the position. ROHR wasn’t suitable any longer and had to go. For 5 years and counting he had no settled starters, something CEREZO managed to achieve in less than a week. If that is not TACTICAL MASTERCLASS, I dont know else to add.
In 2019 AFCON, a GERNOT ROHR who had been in charge since 2016 reprised the infamous WOBBLE and FUMBLE style of FANNY AMUN at Nigeria 95 (where he constantly changed his first 11 until he was stipped by CAMEROON) by playing with an unsettled team. The 3 matched SE played were executed by different personnel. It was a trend that continued until he was justifiably fired. Imagine a coach on the saddle for over 5 years without regular fullbacks or wings backs.
