Riyad Mahrez was the star of the show as Algeria defeated Sudan 3-0 in their opening fixture at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mahrez bagged a brace in the game, with substitute Ibrahim Maza also on target for the Desert Foxes.
The former Manchester City star opened scoring after just two minutes following a superb assist from Hicham Boudaoui.
Sudan were reduced to 10-men six minutes before the break after Salah Adil was sent off for a rash challenge.

Algeria doubled their advantage just after the hour mark with Mahrez scoring his second of the game.
The goal was the winger’s 36th for Algeria, moving him to second on the nation’s all-time scorers list behind Islam Slimani.
It also saw him become Algeria’s leading scorer in AFCON’s history with eight goals.
Maza netted the third five minutes from time.
Algeria moved top of Group E with the win.
They will face Burkina Faso in their next game on Sunday, while Sudan wil be up against Equatorial Guinea.
