Barcelona have sent a congratulatory message to Real Sociedad over their Copa del Rey final win against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
After regulation and extra-time finished 2-2, the final was decided via penalty shootout with Sociedad emerging 4-3 winners.
To reach the final, Atletico edged out Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate over two legs.
Also, Diego Simeone’s men accounted for Barcelona’s exit in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
After winning the first leg 2-0 at the Nou Camp, Atletico lost the reverse fixture 2-1 but advanced 3-2 on aggregate.

Reacting after Saturday’s final, Barcelona took to their X handle to salute Sociedad for securing their fourth Copa del Rey title.
“Congrats to @RealSociedadEN on their Copa title,” Barcelona wrote.
Atletico’s only chance of winning a trophy this season is in the Champions League where they will face Arsenal in the semi-final.
When the two teams met in the group stage of the competition, the Gunners won 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
