Bradbury Called Up As Ritchie Cover

Edinburgh back-rower Magnus Bradbury has been called up to Scotland’s World Cup squad as “precautionary injury cover” for Jamie Ritchie. The squad are set to fly out to Japan on Monday and Bradbury will be on the plane to Asia, after Ritchie suffered a facial injury in Scotland’s 36-9 victory over Georgia on Friday night.

Ritchie is set to stay in Scotland to wait for a full assessment of the problem before hopefully flying out the Japan ahead of their World Cup opener against Ireland on September 22. Bradbury missed Scotland’s three warm-up Tests due to a rib injury before coming off the bench in Friday’s win at Murrayfield against the Georgians.

Having suffered a heavy defeat to France in Nice in their opening summer Test, Scotland went on to beat the French in Edinburgh, before home and away wins over Georgia. The Scots find themselves in Pool A at the World Cup, alongside Ireland, hosts Japan, Samoa and Russia.
