Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma has boasted that his side can win anywhere in Nigeria following Sunday’s victory against Academica do Lobito of Angola.
The Port Harcourt side defeated their opponent 3-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Samuel Antwi, Paul Odeh and Shedrack Asiegbu were all on target for Rivers United in the game.
“Uyo is Nigeria and Port-Harcourt is also Nigeria and we are a Nigerian team,” Eguma said after the game.
“So we play anywhere, we have even left Nigeria to play in Benin Republic in the past, though everyone must have their fortress and our home is Port-Harcourt but now that the conditions don’t allow us to play there, we can play anywhere, so it’s Nigeria.”
Rivers United will face Ghana’s Dream FC in their next Group C game at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
