Carabao Cup: Iheanacho, Lookman On Target As Leicester Advance; Man United Crash Out

Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman got both goals as Leicester City defeated Championship club Millwall 2-0 away to progress into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Completesports.com reports.

Also in action alongside Iheanacho and Lookman for Leicester was Wilfred Ndidi.

It was Iheanacho’s first goal of the season for Leicester while Lookman also opened his goals account for the Foxes since his loan move from Leipzig.

Lookman opened scoring in the 50th minute finishing off a rebound after Iheanacho, who
went through and tried to slot home saw his effort saved and fell to his Nigerian compatriot.

And in the 88th minute Iheanacho sealed the win as he found himself one on one with the defender, eased past him as he cut in from the right and smashed the ball into the back of the net.

At Old Trafford, West Ham United avenged their defeat at the weekend  with a 1-0 win against Manchester United thanks to a Manuel Lanzini strike.

Lanzini got the only goal just eight minutes into the game after stroking home a pull back from Fredericks down the right wing.

Chelsea progressed to the next round edging Aston Villa 4-3 on penalties after 90 minutes ended 1-1.

Timo Werner put Chelsea 1-0 ahead on 54 minutes before Cameron Archer equalised for Villa on 64 minutes.

Also, Tottenham Hotspur had to rely on penalties to see off Wolves after both sides played out a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

Spurs went on to the fourth round with a 3-2 win from the penalty shootout.

In other results, Arsenal thrashed Wimbledon 3-0 and Brighton beat Swansea 2-0.

Meanwhile, the fourth round draw that was conducted immediately after Wednesday’s games will see Arsenal host Leeds, Chelsea welcome Southampton, Brentford will be guests to Stoke City, West Ham entertain Manchester City and Leicester City to battle Brighton at the King Power stadium.

Other pairing will see Burnley and Spurs tackle each other at Turf Moor, QPR face Sunderland and Preston host Liverpool.

The round four ties will be played during week commencing 25 October 2021.

An absolute rocket around the edge of the box, he almost took off the net. Great pass from Ndidi as well. Kelechi is so devastating on the counter. He rarely miss a counter attacking opportunity. That’s why his partnership with Osimhen in the SuperEagles attack may be the best ever. I’m very happy for Ademola Lookman as well with that well taking opportunity, he anticipated the rebound and slot it home cooly. Luku will surely have a big role to play in this Leicester team. I will be surprised if Kelechi doesn’t start the next Premier league match on Saturday. He was indeed the man of the match.
