  • Having missed no less than 8 games for Nigeria before his 12 minutes against Liberia in a world cup qualifier this month, Samuel Kalu was fading from view in national team football.

Sickness and injuries haven’t been kind to the winger who plays with much polish when firing on full throttle.

These days, Gernot Rohr is spoilt for choice in most departments. I was reading an article that suggested Emmanuel Dennis will be overlooked again in upcoming qualifiers. If true, am I surprised? No.

With the way things are going, Nigeria fans will have to get used to the odd big name being overlooked in subsequent squads – such is now the glut of options available for the Super Eagles at this time.

If Kalu stays fit, he has a place in the Super Eagles and some players will have to make way. Kalu is a trusted Rohr soldier. He plays to instructions with discipline and a military style precision. Admittedly the wings is a department where options appear more ubiquitous.

But no one will blame Rohr for going with players he knows and has worked with for a lengthy period.

I am praying that Kalu stays fit and healthy. He is such a valuable and mature winger who brings something different to the table.

The news of his goal this week is heartwarming. This is praying for more of such headlines in weeks to come.

  • Nice and well taken goal…… Kalu has a very strong leg well packed with shots……he is also a very confident dribbler that is good in closed spaces……He is a very valuable asset to the national team…….I wish his an injury free season.

  • In another news Onuachu can’t stop scoring……The new bumper contract given to him recently is really motivating the guy.

    • My brother, I still replay his Europa League goal against Rapid Wien the other day in my head over and over again!

Seems very simple; it was anything but.

He had to anticipate the flight of the ball, time his run, outfox the 2 defenders, connect with the ball and then hit the target.

It looked so simple but what went into that finish can only be appreciated by those with a keen eye for the game. Plus, he had an earlier goal disallowed.

      Onuachu is just a poacher!

        Thanks for sharing man

      • I agree with u @deo,the goal was anything but simple… I believe Rohr would find the best way to use this multiple talents at his disposal to devastating effect asap…

  • Kalu, onuachu, iheanacho all scoring. Nice one. Especially kalu, was a bit worried about him but he seems to be fine and working himself back to his best.
Iheanacho was at his best tonight. Having a hand in both of Leicester goals. Nice, one to the seniorman.
Onuachu is getting back to his best form from last year. He will surely score loads of goals this season. Goodluck to all of them.
