ChampIonship: Ajayi Gets Highest Rating In West Brom’s Draw At Swansea

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi got the highest rating despite West Bromwich Albion’s 0-0 draw at Swansea, which saw them relinquish top spot, Completesports.com reports.

The rating which was compiled by Birmingham Mail was for every West Brom players who featured in the game.

And after putting up a five-star performance, Ajayi was rated nine out of 10.

Commenting on Ajayi’s performance Birmingham Mail wrote: “Had the legs to keep a leash on (Rhian) Brewster in a foot race, and dominated him aerially. No nonsense tackles throughout, and displayed his eye for a pass throughout. An excellent showing from the centre half, where he barely put a foot wrong.”

After 37 rounds of games, Leeds now top on 71 points, just one point above West Brom, in the 24-team league table.

  • _ Worrying Times For Ajayi? _

Approaching yesterday’s match against Swansea, Super Eagles International Semi Ajayi said that they will do all they could to get maximum points after their shock loss to Leon Balogun’s Wigan last week.

But in a rather tepid display, they could only muster a draw which allowed Leeds to leapfrog them to the top of the league with their convincing 2:0 victory against Huddersfield.

With 9 games left to go, my prayer is for Ajayi and his team mates not to drop more valuable points as I will be gutted to see the 24 year old Super Eagles defender miss out on Premier League promotion after his hard work, goals contributions and overall effort to the team.

Funny enough, it happened to current league leaders Leeds last season. Many had tipped them for promotion having led for long periods. But they lost momentum, lost their way and ultimately lost out on promotion.

Semi’s Wes Brom, who are 6 points ahead of Fulham in 3rd place, can still gain automatic promotion if they finish as second.

I hope they can win the league though as I will celebrate this with Semi Ajayi. If not, second place will do. It is the play offs that I dread so much as nothing is guaranteed.

“Hopefully, we can get back to winning ways,” Semi Ajayi said recently.”We’re not thinking about how many games are left.”

His coach Slavan Billic remained upbeat after the match by saying: “Considering the bigger picture, this was a good point.”

I agree, at least 1 point is better than 0 point!

Leeds won’t win the championship.. Mark my word.. West Brom had very tough matches in the last few games they played while Leeds played easier games.. Wesbrom lost to wigan last week a team yet to lose since balogun joined them.. Wigan is the most on form team at the moment so it is understandable they lost and yesterday West Brom played away to Swansea one of the best teams in championship pushing for promotion yet they drew.. Leads have been playing weaker teams recently, lead played Huddersfield yesterday, a team so down in the championship table.. While fulham have been very average recently.. There is nothing to worry about for semi

I really don’t think it matters who wins the championship.
I agree that both Leeds and Westbrom would definitely have enough in the tank to make the premiership, but every game counts;especially in the Championship. You can only beat what is in front of you.
Hopefully, Westbrom ,Leeds United (Being a big fan of Leeds united and Marcelo Biesla), sit up and keep a positive momentum, they are almost there…

  • Thanks Mr Hush. I am hoping Wes Brom win the Championship as it will be the cherry on the icing on the cake for all of Semi Ajayi’s hard work this season (and the hard work of his colleagues as well).

Also, it will be a personal achievement for Semi Ajayi as it would mean he had finished the season with a medal.
