Chelsea Overcome Palace To Set Up FA Cup Final Clash With Liverpool 

Second half goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount earned Chelsea a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace and a place in next month’s FA Cup final.

The Blues will now meet Liverpool for the second time in a Cup final this season after their Carabao Cup tie which the Reds won on penalties.

It is a third consecutive FA Cup final appearance for  Chelsea while Palace were seeking a third ever appearance.

The last time Chelsea and Liverpool met in the FA Cup final was on 2012 which the Blues won 2-1.

Chelsea had the first shot on goal through Mason Mount but his effort was well saved by the Palace keeper.

In the 10th minute a long pass from deep almost found Cesar Azpilicueta but Chelsea skipper could not connect properly with the pass.

Palace had the game’s real big opportunity on 36 minutes but Edourd Mendy got down well to stop a goal bound shot after Eberechi Eze’s swung in free-kick was half cleared.

Chelsea were the more purposeful side in the second half but struggled to create any meaningful chance.

But in the 61st minute Palace almost took the lead through Chiekou Kouyate who met a corner only to see his effort miss the target.

Chelsea eventually took the lead in the 65th minute thanks to a superb volley by Loftus-Cheek into the top corner.

Palace tried to get back into the game as they started probing forward but the Chelsea defence stood firm.

And in the 76th minute Mount made it 2-0 as he got a pass from Timo Werner and slotted into the bottom corner.

Palace almost pulled a goal back on 78 minutes but Joachim Andersen failed to direct his header into an empty net.

In the 90th minute Chelsea had two big chances but Romelu hit the post while Hakim Ziyech saw his effort cleared off the line.
